WFH, fenced backyard, safety 1st

Pet care experience

I am an enthusiastic and doting dog mom. I have my own, Lana, who is a 10-yr old, 33 lb mutt and the most timid and mild-tempered dog ever. We both love other dogs! I started doing Rover so that Lana gets play dates, canine socialization, really to keep my baby young! For me, I get to fulfill my itch to have more dogs, along with the extra funds. My husband and I both work from home full time. We take frequent sun breaks in the yard with the dogs. I am crazy about and always worried about Lana, and I know other dog-owners all feel the same. I use Rover myself when I need care for Lana. I know what I’m looking for in a caretaker, so I try to be the sitter I want. It is not enough to just love being around dogs, we understand the immense responsibility and trust you put into someone to care for your pups. Peace of mind is invaluable. We offer a safe, clean home, a fully fenced yard, no kids, no extra dogs, and dogs are allowed to spread out anywhere and get comfy. Dogs are not left alone outside, and we make sure doors /fences are shut and things are put away. I typically only take on one dog at a time, but can take more than one if the dogs are from the same family. Sometimes I will take on regulars with your dog, but that is rare and I’ll communicate with you when there is another dog here to make sure it’s compatible. I do have a weight limit on here, but reach out anyway! I keep plenty of gentle giants. I am happy to arrange a meet and greet in a neutral space or for you to come to my home. My husband, Joe, shares the same sentiments and helps out more than he says I give him credit for.. :) There is usually someone home. Safety is BIG in this house, it is #1. We are very communicative, transparent, and are responsive. We send lots of pictures and videos when they are being cute or funny, or to recap the day, but we do not expect replies from you each time- we know you're busy! My goal for you is to not be anxious about leaving your furbaby, you can enjoy yourself while on vacation, if you need to travel for work, or if you need to be away for whatever reason, you can be confident your pup is safe and happy.

My English bulldog is a little bit challenging to take care of, but Brenda did such a great job! Kiwi enjoyed his stay! Thank you for taking care of him!

Thanks to Brenda, Joe, and Lana for taking such great care of my senior dog Cricket. It's the first time I've been unable to take her with me and she has a few medications that are needed daily. I was so happy to get updates in the morning and evening and thrilled that she was getting comfortable and behaving well. I appreciate the good care that she received during her stay. It great to have a wonderful place to board Cricket in the future. I highly recommend using Brenda L.

I will ask for your dog's schedule, or they can follow Lana's. I have a fenced yard, and they are allowed on furniture and anywhere in the house. I can also crate them, whichever your preference is. If they require a crate, please bring it with you so they are comfortable while you are away. In the spirit of trust and respect, please, only housetrained dogs. If your dog barks a lot, it will probably not be a good fit due to both of us working from home and often being on the phone or in meetings.

Vaccination status, need to have flea and tick prevention in this Georgia climate. If over 60 lbs, please share temperament and energy level. I do not care about breed and though I do have a size limit, the only thing that’s important to me is a non-aggressive dog. Please share any quirks, tendencies, fun things about your pup! Some examples I have gotten are what their "stop that" phrase is, what their "come" phrase is, what motivates them, what gets them excited or happy. Let me know if they chew or like to get into stuff (so we can be extra careful!) or if they’re able and motivated to get up on counters (so we can remove things from the edge) , feeding schedules, bathroom habits. Again, we are safety first for everyone. If your pup requires a crate, please bring one when you drop off. If your dog barks a lot, it will likely not be a good fit as we both work from home and are often on the phone.

A typical day

We wake up around 7 and immediately take the dogs outside. After some coffee, we will walk them so they can get the latest in neighborhood news! I then get to work and the dogs hang with me in my office or my husband's. They lounge around for a couple of hours. At about lunch I like to break up the day with more active outside play- fetch, chasing them or letting them chase me, going for a walk, etc. This helps me and them power through the afternoon (in their case, usually it's a power-nap!) They eat dinner and after dinner, they go for one more walk or jaunt in the yard, then they're usually tired, and we set them up for sleep wherever their preference is.

Pet care fits into my daily and weekly routine because I am home 90% of the time. We take walks and take frequent yard breaks every couple of hours. This is for the dogs AND myself. We have active snuggle time every day, usually after dinner where all humans and dogs plop on the couch, and dogs usually sleep with us because we’re crazy.
