Pet care experience

Hi there! We are Brandi and Alex, a mom and son team here to care for our local furry friends. For more than a decade, we’ve been involved in both animal rescue and wildlife rehabilitation. I was employed at a very large rescue and shelter in Kentucky as a shelter behavior department manager. During my time in Louisville, I spent my days evaluating and rehabilitating dogs while providing excellent force-free training in order to increase confidence and strengthen relationships between dogs (many who had been abused or neglected) and humans. Often, this could be quite a long process, however the majority of dogs in my care were placed with loving families of their own. Now that I have returned to the Clarksville area, I am ready to resume my work with companion animals and provide excellent care for pets while their families are away. While I have a background in rehabilitation using proven, science-based, and aversive-free methods, I would like to focus my time on pet care and providing basic manners training as needed. At Stay & Play Pet Center, each interaction will be used to build a great relationship and work on practicing great behavior. I look forward to the opportunity to meet your pets and family!

I have used Brandi as a dog/cat sitter on numerous occasions. My pets love her! You can really tell she loves animals and is very patient with them. Her prices are reasonable. I would recommend her services.

A typical day

Every interaction with an animal affords the opportunity for them to learn something. We will work on basic manners and impulse control during visits and walks. I'm a firm believer that using techniques that get your dog (or cat!) thinking uses both their mental and physical energy. The end result of a 15-20 minute interaction is usually a tired pup - and after all, a tired pup is a happy pup! I'll use food and attention to motivate your pup so that we can practice good behaviors (like sitting for pets instead of jumping up). I typically charge by the visit. Each visit lasts for one hour and will include playtime, walks, snuggles, etc. as discussed. If you are away for more than a day, three visits are required for a total of $35 per day (two one-hour visits and one 30 minute visit midday.
