Hi! My name is Brandi and I’m 20 years old. I grew up around dogs but I’ve worked with them for about 6 years. My junior year in high school I was a part of a veterinary assisting technical center. We learned the fundamentals for assisting in veterinary hospitals. Small animals were another focus for the course. We learned how to care for guinea pigs, rabbits, turtles, and many other animals. Later on in my junior year, I started working in a boarding facility for dogs and cats. I worked at the facility for about three years and went on to work at a veterinary hospital as a veterinary assistant. I have worked at the hospital for over a year now and I am loving it. My plan is to go to school to become a veterinary technician. As for pet sitting, I have boarded dogs at my house. I do require that the dogs or cats be updated on their shots and are on flea and tick prevention. I have 3 dogs and a cat that are vaccinated and on preventions as well. They are friendly to other animals. But I can separate them if needed. Also, I have gone to houses to take care of dogs and cats as well. As long as they have their rabies shot, for safety purposes, the other vaccines aren’t as much of a concern. I do work full time so my schedule varies but my hours are flexible.
