Pet care experience
Like most people on Rover (and many people in Missoula) I've always been a dog person. I grew up with a golden retriever family pet, as an adult raised a pair of mutts (a chow-shepherd mix and a dachshund-spaniel mix) to age 16, and most recently adopted an uncannily friendly Aussie shepherd mix, now almost 5, who's my best bud — and not at *all* spoiled ;) Over the years I've sat for dogs from 9 pounds to 90 pounds, puppies and elders, healthy and special needs, from corgis to labs to dobies. I'm patient with animals, an entirely competent stick-thrower/ball tosser, and an avid walker. I focus primarily on the Rattlesnake area, but may consider bookings farther afield, possibly with an increased rate depending on distance. You can expect conscientious, responsible care and lots of affection for your pets.

I prefer not to work with dogs that are habitually aggressive with people or other animals.
A typical day
While I visit or stay with your pet, we can go on walks wherever your pet is accustomed to walking, either in the company of my dog Harlan, or, if your pet prefers to walk solo, alone. Alternately, if there are other dog parks, trails, or river access nearby, we'd love to visit those. During overnight stays, your pet can expect frequent attention and play, indoors or out. Since I work primarily from home (or remotely, via laptop), your pet will have my consistent company and won't be left alone for any significant amount of time. We can play tug or catch, I can continue and reinforce any training regimen you may be employing, and on extended stays or overnights, your pet can socialize with Harlan, who never met a dog he doesn't like.
