MSU Prof/Lifetime Pet Lover

Pet care experience

I am an assistant professor at MSU and truly pet sit only because I love animals! Growing up, we had a cat and dogs in the house. Five days after college graduation, I became a cat mom. I now have 2 cats, Daisy and Orzo, and one dog, Wally. I have provided pet-sitting services since I was a teenager, often for neighbors, friends, and family. I am extremely responsible, reliable, conscientious, detail-oriented, warm, and compassionate. I am able to provide drop-in visits, walks, and occasional boarding. To board your dog, it would need to be cat-friendly and dog-friendly. Wally is neutered and friendly. He does really well with all dogs, except those who are aggressive or intimidating. He does especially well with smaller dogs, or those who are submissive. The cats don't care, and they have no problem letting dogs know if they're being annoying :) When boarding dogs, it is important for me to know whether they are house-trained, crate-trained, and whether they deal with separation anxiety. When boarding dogs in my house, I am extremely mindful of how well they get along with my animals. If your dog is high anxiety, has separation anxiety, or has any aggression issues, they are not a good fit. I am sure they are sweet babies, but my priority is my own pets and my sleep! :) I have experience giving medications to cats and dogs (including insulin injections). I am happy to pick up the mail, water plants, feed other critters, or other small tasks that would make your life easier!

Very reliable. Blair made sure my pets had everything they needed while I was away. She also watched the weather and when it looked like the days we had scheduled for drop ins were going to coincide with winter storms that would make it impossible to travel she suggested that we adjust the timing. I really appreciate her attention to everything that was going on.

Despite my booking being during a blizzard warning, Blair did her best to accommodate the challenges brought on by the weather and took great care of my cat

Blair is fabulous! She housesat/dogsat for us and took great care of our 13-year-old German Shepherd, Jax, for three nights. She provided numerous updates and photos during her stay which provided great assurance to us that our dog was in good hands. Blair is warm with a great personality and she is very professional. We were 100% pleased with our experience and hope to use her services again.

We really appreciated Blair's help looking after our puppy, Howl. She did a great job and updated us while we were out. Thanks again!

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced yard for potty breaks and am happy to do one walk per day. I am adept at leash training and walking, so I would always make sure your dog is safe from their own interests (look! A squirrel!) or other animals. My own cats are indoors only, so I’m always extremely mindful of open doors and keeping pets safe inside. Additionally, my house is fully pet-proofed, since I have three critters of my own.

Home

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog, 2 cats

Information Blair B. would like to know about your pet

It's important for me to know whether the dog is friendly towards cats and other dogs. Additionally, I would like to know if dogs are house-trained and crate-trained, whether they have separation anxiety, are destructive, and where they sleep. As noted, I’m not accepting dogs for boarding who have behavioral problems or high anxiety.

A typical day

Wally and I love to walk around our neighborhood, and hike local trails. Dog parks are an option for supervised play. We love couch snuggles at the end of the day.

I work full time but am hybrid. Sometimes I go to the office, but I also do a lot of work from home. I’m rarely gone for 8 or more hours, but make arrangements to ensure mine (and your!) pets are cared for.
