Peace Of Mind; The Mission

Pet care experience

I've been responsible for caring for dogs since I was 5 years old. When I was 5 years old I had Doc. He was a mixed black and brown wiener dog. I don't remember where he came from or too much of his behavior or mannerisms, I was 5, but I do remember the compassion he had for me and I him. He protected me as much as I protected and cared for him. He had a happy life and of course I was helped alot by my Mother and Father in the responsibilities that came with him, being as young as I was, but he was my introduction to those responsibilities that come with caring for dogs and the truly unconditional love Man's Best Friends are capable of. They unconditionally give love trust and respect freely, expecting nothing in return. I don't remember how old he or I was when I died, but after he did we didn't have another Dog for a while. Eventually we moved from an apartment to a house in a suburban neighborhood. While in this neighborhood our neighbor's dog had puppies and we went to see them after being invited, unaware this would lead to a interaction with a innocent wiggly tiny black newborn fluff ball, completely clueless to the new world it had just entered and was barely beginning to comprehend. We knelt to the other little fluff balls writhing around, playing with them. My Dad picked up one tiny black wiggling fluff ball, upon doing so a June Bug landed on it's nose. June Bug. That innocent back tiny fluff ball was a newborn mixed lab girl puppy and after that fateful interaction June Bug became the newest member of the family. From that point on, I and my siblings had the responsibility of caring and loving for her, making sure everyday she was fed and always had access to water. We made sure she had a comfortable place to sleep, played with her constantly, put training potty pads down in case of accidents while potty training her. We would also tag along for her vaccinations and medicine prescriptions, introducing us as kids to that part of taking care of animals. My father trained her to come at his whistle and follow us when she was outside with us. She was a fierce fighter when protecting us or when confronted by anything. She didn't like other dogs too much but could get used to other dogs after a while. She was very protective of her food when other dogs were around as well and ate very fast when we would feed her. She lived to be about 8 or 10 years old. She grew old with our family up and past the point I left my Mother's house. She died of old age in her sleep while I was out of state. Finally, my furry friend you see in my picture is my baby girl named Buela. She was a surprise Father's day gift. I had met a woman, with whom I became romantically involved, who had two young boys. On father's day, we were on a trip out in San Antonio to visit the Texan treasures, The Alamo and the River Walk. While out there, her and her boys had planned a stop for me to choose a puppy from two that were being given away. I had no idea. Buela had a star on her head, seeing that as a divine sign I chose her. Back home, after feeding her and her throwing up multiple times, we learned the people giving her away had lied about her age and she couldn't eat hard food yet. We had to buy dog safe ingredients to make puppy smoothies for her to eat, researching recipes and what nutrients puppies needed to grow healthily. She had a cooked sweet potato and chicken smoothie as one example. This persisted until she could eat hard food. At that point I made sure she was fed and had water always along with potty training and her boys were to help with those responsibilities. Me and the woman also bought Buela's vaccines ourselves and administered them ourselves. When it was her boys bedtime, it was Buela's bedtime. She is a very protective, extremely smart, loving, caring, easily excitable, and goofy dog, for example, once we gave her the tiny bit left of a peanut butter jar as a treat and she got her head stuck. Eventually we went to Florida, avoiding tyrannical lock downs. Me and her didn't work out while in Florida, so, seeing that tyrannical lock downs were done, I came back to Texas, taking Buela with me. Buela kept me grounded and safe during a very stressful time in my life when I had nowhere to go. I came back to Texas. I had trained her to Sit, Lay-down, and Stay with both verbal signals and non verbal hand signals, while my sister trained her to Shake when I was back in Texas. She is Buela, my baby girl dog, I'm very blessed and happy to have her. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to meeting you and caring for your furry friend. If you're asking why Buela isn't a listed pet, it's because it asks things related to taking care of her and I'm not seeking anyone to take care of her.
