Pet care experience

I’ve been working at a boarding kennel in Crosslake MN every summer during my college career at Gustavus in St Peter MN. At Gustavus, I am the coordinator for a group called Pound Pals and we volunteer each week to socialize cats and dogs up for adoption. I love animals of all kinds and I believe they’re an important part of the family!

Blaine has watched our dogs for a few hours in the afternoon to over-night trips. He has a deep love for pets that is evident in his care and attention. He is courteous, an excellent communicator, and most importantly, loves our dogs!

Blaine is a wonderful person who exemplifies a caring, gentle demeanor towards animals. Additionally, he has a breadth of knowledge on animal behavior and physiology, as he has taken many organismal-related biology courses and speaks passionately about the subject. He has served as a leader in the St. Peter Pound Pals organization, where college students dedicate their time weekly to caring for the animals at a local shelter. I feel that Blaine would be a very strong candidate for this opportunity, as he is armed with passion, experience, and knowledge associated with caring for pets.

Blaine was in third grade when he met me and my dog, but it was my dog that captured his interest. I learned that Blaine has been surrounded by dogs all of his life. He has grown up playing with and helping to take care of the dogs in his home as well as those belonging to his aunts and uncle. He has taken care of my dog numerous times when I was not home. I not only trust with my dogs, but also trust him to be enter my house when I am not there. He is very intuitive sense of how dogs and cats are feeling and what they might need. I was not at all surprised when Blaine became a pre-vet major in college. During the last couple of years, Blaine enjoyed working at a boarding kennel during breaks from college, where he developed relationships with the dogs who were frequently boarded. I highly recommend him to anyone who is in need of an honest, responsible, dog-loving person to help care for their dog.

I have worked with Blaine at the Saint Pater pound for some time now and we are both coordinators for the Gustavus Adolphus College student organization "Pound Pals." We are responsible for helping to socialize the animals of the pound while they wait for adoption. I know he has a profound passion for working with animals, and specifically has experience and love for dogs. He is very kind with the animals he works with and I am confident he would make a wonderful dog sitter given his this respectful nature and interest in animals both through his volunteer experience and coursework at Gustavus.

I have a 15 foot retractable leash that I like using for my own dogs, it is reliable for any size dog. Due to my experience, I am trained to watch the body language of animals to know when to give them space and to do other things to make them feel safe.

We’ll explore the neighborhood and all its smells! There are several fun parks near my house so we will likely walk through them! I love playing fetch so if your dog does too you’re in luck!
