Looking to share the love

Pet care experience

My dog, Gene, is a rescued mutt and he's the light of my life. Before my family rescued Gene, we rescued another mutt named Bud. Both Bud and Gene are medium sized dogs, weighing about 50 lbs, and I find that I am most comfortable with dogs that size or smaller. Although both of my pets have been medium sized dogs, I have experience taking care of large and small dogs as well. I have been house sitting for some family friends for years now and have had so much fun doing it. I've house sat for families with dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, lizards, snakes, frogs, and rodents. The craziest part is: most of those animals were at the same house! Needless to say, whoever you have living with you is someone I'm sure I can get along with. One of my many hobbies is photography, so you can expect some photos of your dog during our time together.

Safety, trust & environment

I love nothing more than to play. I especially enjoy interactions where a dog can use their brain to solve simple problems to make play-time that much more rewarding. I'm a huge proponent of positive reinforcement training as opposed to any dominance theory.

Information Bill W. would like to know about your pet

I typically like to understand a dog's schedule first and foremost. Dogs love a schedule and I love to provide that for them. I feel that it's also important to know what motivates a dog. Are they food driven, play driven, or just eager to please? Understanding these things will allow you to find great success.

A typical day

I love watching my dog Gene smell the neighborhood through the window of the car. One of Gene's favorite places to visit is the local duck pond. So many people to meet and smells to smell. Gene also loves the dog park. He likes to run around, make new friends, and solicit treats from the people sitting on the bench over there.
