As for dog experience, I've grown up with dogs in our home, I volunteered for a pet rescue in high school and volunteered for Family Dog Rescue for a stint. I have fostered in the past, and often pet sit for friends. I completed a course in animal training and first aid & CPR. I’ve also studied, and continue to learn, a bit of holistic care and nutrition for dogs. (If you would like any advice on natural, holistic care for your pet, I’m available for consult. I can’t begin to tell you how much animal pet health is on a decline, it parallels with our human health care system unfortunately.) I am a loving dog mom to a 10 y/o Husky mix, and recently lost my senior Schnauzer mix to cancer, so I'm pretty familiar with dogs of varying sizes and ages (and needs). I live with my family on a 4 acre property against the hills. All that space to run and explore, doggy heaven! However, the yard is rather unconventional. The front is well gated but 3 sides of the yard has barbed wire fencing up along the hillside. Please keep in mind how well your dog recalls to a stranger (that is a crucial difference) and if they have a tendency to wander too far. Some dogs have slipped passed the barbed wire fencing so no escape artists please. Supervised outdoor yard time and possible leashing might be necessary, or leashed walks for exercise. I prefer meet and greets to get to know your fur baby, to see my home, and to ensure the dogs get along. I appreciate transparency regarding your dog’s behavior, especially around strangers and in a different environment. Many dogs behave differently around strangers in a new environment. Too often I have had some owners say their dog is potty trained, dog-friendly, not destructive or recalls and doesn’t bark much but the dogs height do something otherwise. So please have a good understanding of your dog in an unfamiliar setting to we could have an accurate assessment of how they will fit in here. And if you don’t know, that’s ok too! I often have a few dogs at a time during summer and holidays so keep that in mind if your dog isn’t very social. Update: I do ask that for boarding and day care, please bring your own food and any essentials your dog might need during their stay such as beds and toys. Due to the destructive nature of some of the dogs I have hosted, I no longer provide bedding and toys, except for tennis balls. I cannot afford to keep replacing items. Any damages will be noted and I respectfully ask that you cover the cost. I’m super passionate about animals so you’ll be putting your pet in loving hands, ready to snuggle and pet them! I have a fairly flexible schedule and I’m home most of the time. My family also lives here and have assisted me for quite some time with things like feedings, play, and potty breaks. So your dog generally has care and supervision throughout the day. The sun room is where overnights stay and is the general indoor play area. They are allows in other parts of the house if they behave. Basic first aid supplies are on hand if needed. Separation between dogs will be done if there are fights (social behavior needs to be considered prior to booking and will be assessed via messaging and the meet and greet.) Outdoor time is supervised due to the large space but I do highly encourage your dog to have basic recall. This is a very large property with fencing but it is minimal along the hillside. Dogs have slipped through before.
