Bark 'n Bunk with me!

Pet care experience

Of course I am an animal lover, but I have a very special place in my heart for dogs. There is something about their unconditional love and sweet faces that is just, well, the best thing ever. I AM ALSO AVAILABLE FOR DOG WALKING, DAY VISITS, AND CAT CARE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INQUIRE. THANK YOU! Experience: I have had cats and turtles for a lifetime and dogs of my own for the past 11 years. During these 11 years, I've also been pet-sitting both in my home and as a visiting sitter. I've learned best practices for house-training, crate-training, basic commands, socialization, caring for a senior pup, and caring for a puppy pup(!), and providing consistent and compassionate care for pups (and cats!) with special needs and health issues. House, Schedule, and Pet Info: I have a house and a schedule that has been set up to accommodate any variety of pups and pets. My two dogs, two cats, and Russian tortoise have a pretty pet-friendly home here! All my pets are current on vaccinations, shots, and preventatives. They are comfortable around other animals. I also have a large backyard that is fully fenced. There is plenty of room to run, play, and chase the occasional squirrel. Potty and Meals: Typically, we do 4 to 6 scheduled potty breaks throughout the day, or as needed if otherwise. As mentioned earlier, I am home all day. Meals are provided for each dog in separate areas in my home to prevent any pup thievery! I also have areas throughout the house that can be sectioned off with gates if necessary during meal time or rest time. Other Accommodations: Our dogs are free to go anywhere in the house at any point in the day, but there is also constant supervision. There are gates both at the bottom and the top of the staircase to the second floor. They are always open unless I need to control traffic or for other safety reasons. I do have a small crate and a large crate with a divider for visitors that are used to this set up for overnights, though I will never crate a pup unless instructed to do so. Weather-permitting, two walks daily will be provided unless otherwise instructed. I also have a fancy pants pet shower for those days when mud is just inevitable. Also weather-permitting, pups will have the opportunity to spend PLENTY of time outdoors with me playing fetch, chasing tennis balls, and soaking up the sun. For extended visits, a trip to the Metroparks is a must. My home is a cozy, warm, loving environment for my whole family. It would be my pleasure to open my home up to other pups who may need to be away from their own family for a bit. I have plenty of soft doggy beds, toys, (and maybe just a couple of treats) waiting!

She is always so great with both of my dogs and they come home happy and wiped out from all the fun!

Bethany and her family are ABSOLUTELY amazing. My pup Heta stayed with them for nearly 2 weeks - was so active and had such a blast... she wasn't ready to go with me! This was my first experience with Rover and I can't believe how lucky I was to find Bethany and have her take care of Heta. Couldn't ask for a better dog sitter and I plan to look to Bethany in the future.

Bethany is one of the most responsible, caring, and conscientious people that I know. She is not only a wonderful mom to real human children, but to her many fur babies as well! As a veterinarian, I trust her (and have trusted her) wholeheartedly to care for my own pets, your pets, and even pets with medical conditions. She is the best!

Information Bethany W. would like to know about your pet

Most importantly, it would be helpful to know how tolerant your pup is with dogs, cats, and children. Though my whole family (pets included) knows how to interact with other dogs, it would be an easier transition for your dog if I knew the very best way to approach his or her care. I have enough space in my house and yard to accommodate both dogs that love LOTS of attention (like my golden) and dogs that enjoy more peace and quiet from time to time (like my terrier mix). I have no breed preferences.

A typical day

Being that I stay at home, I have the opportunity to spend both day and night with my family. Ideally, I want to be able to provide dog moms and dads with the same sense of comfort I would want for my pets if I had to be away from home. My neighborhood is extremely dog-friendly and excellent for walking. No busy streets or crazy traffic! As far as my dog-sitting style goes, I suppose I am truly flexible as to what will make both the owner and the dog comfortable. For example, I have a one year old golden who we've raised since her puppy days. She loves walking/running/jumping/chasing her tail around our neighborhood, snuggling on the furniture, sleeping on her bed, playing with the children, making giant messes, and just being loved...a lot! I also have an 18 year old mixed breed male who is totally sweet, very patient, but not so into physical activity and loads of attention. He loves the children, but prefers to curl up and nap most of the day. Basically, I work around what works best for both of our dogs. I've done everything from house and crate-training, to teething puppies, to twice daily insulin injections and medication administration.
