Pup Paradise! 4 Acres-Fenced.

Pet care experience

Huge 3800 square foot home with one level living and 4 acres of land fenced in with walking trails on our own property. Dog Paradise! We have everything here to make our home your dog's dream vacation. He/She may miss you a bit, but will be totally safe, comfortable and loved while you're away. Once you are a client you will never be denied boarding**, so our home becomes your dog's second home...whenever you need us---even last minute emergencies. We know your dog deserves better than someone doing this as a side job or for extra money. Sure, everyone loves dogs, but do they have knowledge, experience and skills to deal with having several dogs in their home at the same time? And more importantly, will they be around most of the day to care for your baby? Or, do they work all day, go out with friends at night, and leave the dogs unattended most of the day? And what about the sitters who can only board 2-3 dogs at a time? Then your poor dog has to get used to another household (which is stressful for even the calmest of dogs) and you have to have the inconvenience of another meet and greet if that sitter is booked. Which, if they are a decent sitter, is a pretty good chance. We can take up to 10 dogs at a time, so the odds of us being booked for your future requests would be pretty slim. Your dog would have a home away from home for almost anytime you needed! The "frequent flyers" all get to know one another too which is great. We have a part time assistant helping us with the dogs every day so that there is almost always someone here with them. She helps us feed, poop scoop, clean dog dishes, play and love the dogs too! We have won Angie's list super service award for pet sitting and dog walking for 7 years in a row. Our lives and our careers are focused on pets, not school, work or other activities. This is not a hobby or a side job or a way to earn extra cash. This is our passion! Our way of life and our career. The dogs receive 24/7 attention from both me and my husband while we both stay at home, as this IS our job. We take them on at least 3-4 trail walks per day, off-leash, since it's all securely fenced-in and safe. We know that a tired dog is a good, relaxed and healthy dog. No nervous energy here! We have been caring for dogs for over 25 years now and and know dog behaviors. We know how to handle all dog sizes, breeds and temperaments. We always do a free consult ahead of time so that you can meet us and our dogs. We live in South Fayette, about 15 minutes from the airport near Robinson and close to Mt. Lebo, USC, Canonsburg and Bridgeville. The dogs are treated like family and never crated or caged. They can sleep wherever they are comfortable....bed, sofa, dog bed in our bedroom. We have steps to the sofas and bed for the little ones or the elderly. *MEET AND GREET CHARGE OF $25. Will be exchanged for first night of boarding free. **We cannot board dogs that show any signs of aggression or play too rough. For your own dog's safety and that of the other dogs. ***Ask about our taxi service to the airport. You can park your car on our property and we'll drop you off and pick you up from the airport...as long as the flights are within a reasonable time frame. We are a quick 12-15 minute drive to the airport. Charge is $10 each way....save on airport parking! About this sitter: I am a mom of 3 children (1 teen and two adults), and 7 furry children (3 dogs, 4 cats). The cats have their own "apartment" so if your dog is not a cat "person", then no worries...they will not be near each other. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, and a born animal lover! Why I love dog sitting We have been dog lovers all of our lives. I've never been without at least one. We love all breeds and sizes and enjoy being around them, walking, playing and cuddling with them. We get a kick out of our house guests and they always make us smile :) Meet my pets We have 3 King Charles Cavalier Spaniels. They are super friendly, social and love to play! About my yard We have 4 acres of land with over 2 acres fenced in. A big backyard fenced and then double fenced for your dogs protection. We also have a 1/4 mile walking trail, completely fenced in and a huge play field for the dogs to play fetch, frisbee, or just run around like nuts! In the summer we have a large pool for any of our dogs who love to swim! My experience administering medication Before I became a dog sitter, I was a Registered nurse. We've had diabetic dogs here, epileptic dogs, blind dogs, 3-legged dogs, dogs in wheelchairs....you name it. We are comfortable with them all.

Our chocolate lab has only been boarded a handful of times but sending him to stay with Beth was by far the best accommodation for him....so much better than being penned up amongst many barking dogs. He was noticeably less stressed and well taken care of. Beth is now our new "go to" person for dog boarding.

It was our first time leaving our dog with someone other than family but Beth made it a seamless transition! We will definitely use Beth again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter!

We always do an in-home consultation prior to boarding where you bring your dog to meet with us and our dogs. We cannot board dogs that show any signs of aggression or play too rough. For your own dog's safety and that of the other dogs, your dog MUST be friendly with other dogs. Shy and fearful dogs are fine. We are really good at helping shy dogs to be comfortable here (we will give them the extra TLC they need to acclimate), and if you have a puppy, it's a great place to learn socialization skills at a young age. We cannot take un-neutered males over the age of 6 months. We also cannot take pit bulls, rotties, german shepherds, dobies or any other typically assertive, powerful breed. Although we love all breeds of dogs (and in fact, used to raise shepherds and we volunteered for Hello Bully), to mix these dogs with smaller, more docile dogs is always too high of a risk due to the rough playing and prey instinct. We respect the ability of these breeds to be very powerful and strong. And if there was a scuffle with another dog, which can, and do sometimes occur when putting dogs together in one home, it could be dangerous for the more docile dog. If you are considering a sitter who does allow all breeds, I'd be very cautious. We've been doing this for a long time, and unfortunately have seen the results of allowing any and all breeds being boarded together. NOT a good idea. Inexperienced sitters will allow all breeds because they don't want to lose the business. We did allow this at one time and learned the hard way. There are certain dogs who simply do not do well in a home boarding situation. Doesn't mean they are "bad" or "aggressive". Just means that they are incredibly strong, can turn in an instant, and have the potential to to do major harm in a small scuffle. Live and learn after a few trips to the vet. Being that we have smaller dogs of our own, we don't want to put them or anyone else's dog at risk. If you are the owner of one of these breeds, I'm sure you'll take offense to this, however, you would be wise to consider visits to your own home instead of home boarding. You have to respect the breeds for what they are capable of. We realize that all dogs are individual, however, we have yet to have hosted a pit, a rottie, a shepherd, a dobie (or other very strong/ dominant breeds) that didn't play waaaayyyy toooo rough for our more docile dogs. They are simply just too powerful and strong, and although they would never intentionally hurt another dog, it happens due to their strength, size and activeness. Of course, there are exceptions to this since all dogs are individual, and if you have a dog you would like us to consider, we would be happy to discuss and do a trial night or 2 if necessary.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks As stated above, we have walking trails where the dogs are walked at least 3-4 times per day depending on how active they are. Our elderly or less able bodied guests can stay inside and rest more often while our more active guests can have as many outings as they want....again, we let them call the shots around here. Your dog's sleeping arrangement He can sleep wherever he is comfortable. If that means on my head, then that is fine with me! We have dogs sleep in our bedroom on dog beds or blankets or they can sleep in the bed. Some choose to stay in the cozy living room on the sofa or on their dog beds. Its totally up to them. Time I'll spend with your dog As much time as possible. We are home most of the day and only step out for errands. It is a rare occasion when both my husband and I and our grown daughters are out of the house altogether.
