The Tiny Dog House
Pet care experience
Thank you for your interest in my services! I've been in the pet care business since I was a child. I grew up with a Golden Retriever and cat that I was responsible for. In more recent years I’ve watched pets for friends and was a caretaker for a black lab. Currently I live in a tiny house I built that is well suited for hosting one dog at a time. I can give your dog the undivided attention and care that dog kennels often can't. The house is a cozy, safe, space parked in a beautiful setting in the woods where there are numerous trails for walking your dog. If you would like to see if the tiny house and I are a good fit for your pet, I'd be happy to have you visit. Though I enjoy the company of a dog at my house, I'm also happy to have a change of scenery if you prefer I housesit.
Reviews
This was our first time using Ben, and we would definitely use him again! He was great with our dogs, and he followed our instructions perfectly. His communication is excellent, and he was flexible with our schedule. From the picture updates, we could tell our dogs enjoyed their time! 100% would recommend
My dog sweet, but she is the most anxious dog on the planet and is highly untrusting of the world and anything people, spaces, or things she is not used to. It has made traveling (when my parents are not around to watch her) impossible, until now. I found Ben in preparation for a family trip we were taking, and gave it a try. He met all the criteria I thought would be best for her, he only takes 1 dog at a time, and his reviews said he was great with nervous dogs. I started with small, quick visits to his house with my dog, then moved to a single overnight, and then we left her with Ben for 5 nights while we took our trip. He understood how anxious she was and he had such patience with her (over the many days and visits) as she got used to him and his house. By the time we returned from our trip, she was taking belly scratches from him, laying on the couch with him, and going for full walks around his neighborhood. It is SUCH a relief to have a safe place to leave her now if we travel again. I thought we might not be able to go on this trip because of the dog, and we were able to, thanks to Ben for being patient and taking such good care of her!
Ben M. cancelled a booking within a day of the start date.
Ben did a great job house sitting and watching our dog. He gave frequent updates, took her on multiple walks a day, and left the house exactly as he found it. We could tell our pup was very well taken care of and seemed to really like him (multiple pictures of her cuddling against him, sleeping in the bed, etc.). We'll definitely hire Ben again next time we go out of town.

Living in a small space gives me the ability to keep a close eye on your dog as well as provide them close company. Similar to caring for pets in my home, I can keep close to them in your home as I work on a laptop.

Information Ben M. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs, health concerns, or attitude problems. I only have one dog at a time, but it's good to know if they are aggressive to other dogs if we were to be in a park or on trails off-leash. Thanks and I look forward to meeting you and your pet(s)!
A typical day
On a typical day with a typical dog, I let them out first thing in the morning. After breakfast we usually go for a short walk around the block. This is about 1/3 of a mile. For most mornings I am on the computer or working on my house and keep company with the dog. If a dog is a longer walker and needs more exercise, we go for an afternoon walk in the woods and/or drive to other local spots. These walks are usually 45 min - hour. Evenings are casual, spent at home, with an occasional visit from a friend or a trip to the north shore to visit friends if your pet is given permission. Another walk in the evening and a short bathroom break before bed. I sleep in a loft in the tiny house, but if your pet has separation anxiety, I am happy to sleep with them on the couch or bring them up.

Availability
I work from home on a laptop. The space has a couch for a dog to lay or if they prefer their own bed on the floor. During the day I don't need to leave the house for long periods of time. If I ever need to leave for more than a few hours I would check with you about bringing your dog with me in the car. I've taken dogs on longer hikes or outings with permission of the client, but go for regular walks around the block and longer walks in the woods if your dog needs more exercise.
