My lil old girl is 19 now and we have to give 4 meds in am and 4 at nite. I know how hard it is to find someone capable and stable enough for an animal/family member. For years now my girlfriend and I foster dogs from the local no kill shelter to give them a day out of the barking chaos. Sometimes for a boat ride or just some time laying quiet in the sun. We usually take the ones who do not show well or have been returned and try to figure out why. Some don't like kids, some don't like other dogs, etc. Found one that only understood Spanish. Go figure. Give shelter notes so the new family can have the knowledge.
