Dog loving college student

Pet care experience

Even as an adult, I play the “I spy the most adorable dog” game wherever I am, much to the chagrin of my boyfriend or friend who happens to be walking beside me. It’s almost an uncontrollable impulse, well, because every dog is so cute and I absolutely can’t get enough of them! The complete, unwavering dedication, loyalty, and love dogs show their owners always touches my heart. Dogs truly embody unconditional love and joy, and I am happiest around our furry best friends. I’m a dog mom to a wonderful dog named Koa and frequently help out with my sister's dog named Amber. My boyfriend and I adopted Koa during the summer of 2018 and we could not be more in love with him! Towards the end of 2019, Koa developed idiopathic epilepsy which was scary at the time, but we love him all the same. It has given me experience caring for special needs dogs and I am very experienced with giving oral medications. I would do anything for my pup! I also have experience from when I was a child. When I was younger, my mom would take me to drop in and check on friends' pets for them if they were out of town with their family. Now that I'm older, I've been dog sitting for my boyfriend's sister's dog. I'm basically constantly around dogs. I attend classes at San Diego State University and am majoring in Kinesiology. My classes are currently all online so I don't need to drive to school which allows me more time with your fur baby. I also work as a Behavioral Interventionist doing Applied Behavioral Analysis with individuals with special needs. Because of this there will be times during the week that I have to leave to go to sessions, but its never for very long! I would describe myself as loving, supportive, and honest. I've always given my all with relationships with loved ones and I've always gone out of my way for them. I've never been afraid to do the right thing no matter how hard it is or if it makes me look bad. I stand up for what I believe in. And I should also add that I really love all animals, not just dogs. I grew up with cats too and I honestly adore the dog-cat combinations. I have some experience with handling reptiles such as snakes and lizards, but never owned them personally. They don’t scare me in the least and all I need is a clear list of instructions on their care! Same goes for our smaller furry friends like mice and hamsters. I will never meet an animal I won’t love or at least be intrigued by.

Becca was prompt. attentive, and kept me in the loop on all things about our puppy while we were away! She sent pictures, made sure she had our instructions accurately, and took such great care of our dog, all while keeping our home clean. We will definitely use her services again.

Becca kept us informed, but didn't impede on our vacation. I would definitely book her again.

Becca did a great job with our buddy Hudson. She was conscientious and frequently sent pics of Hudson being his happy GSD-self. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a house-sitter/pup-sitter....

Becca is such a sweet and conscientious pet-sitter and took wonderful care of our kitty, Paka. Our cat requires medication twice a day and doesn't like change in his routines and Becca handled everything beautifully. We also have 3 outdoor tortoises that Becca cared for. When we arrived home, our kitty seemed very happy, content and well-cared for, and our house was left very clean. She even left us a very sweet thank you note. I would highly recommend Becca, and we have already scheduled her to watch our pets again.

Information Becca S. would like to know about your pet

I'll be taking lots and lots of photos of the pups during my visits so their owners are informed on how they're doing. At the end of my jobs, I plan on giving the owners a well thought out thank you card and a toy or treat depending on what I feel their dog would most enjoy It's important to me to go at the dog's pace when first meeting. Some don't need much help to warm up to you but some are more timid, just like my dog Koa. I'm patient and always happy to provide treats if allowed by the pet owners. I prefer to have meet and greets at the owner's home so that I can have a small tour and understand everything better. I'm obsessed with Pitbulls and Staffordshire Terriers and think they are some of the absolute sweetest dogs! We aren't sure exactly what breeds Koa is a mix of but he definitely has some Pittie in him, which I love! I think all dogs deserve a chance and that we shouldn't judge them based on breed stereotypes. I do love all dogs but those are some of my favorite breeds that I would be ecstatic to watch. It's important for me to know if the dog has health conditions, takes medication, has any unusual behaviors, and how they interact with other dogs if I encounter one while walking the dog. I want to make sure we’re all safe and happy. I’m super organized and on top of my stuff (I’m a student after all), and very responsible, so all you have to do is tell me exactly what you need and I’ll make sure it gets done, all the while I’ll be basking in your pup’s love, cuddles, and kisses. I also believe in open communication––I know I’d want regular updates on my furball. Just tell me the best way to get in touch with you and I’ll be sure to send photos or videos! I’m happy to stay in touch.

A typical day

If I were house-sitting your pup then I would be free almost all day on weekends to hang out with him or her (my boyfriend will take care of our dog but I may want to swing by to see them). I'd give your fur baby a short walk so she can use the bathroom in the morning and then I'll feed her breakfast. Once s/he's eaten, it depends on how she's feeling. If she has a lot of energy then we'll play with her toys and have fun and burn some excess energy but if she just wants some love and attention then I'll spend some time loving on her. Once she's mellowed out I'll hang out with her for the day making sure to give her short walks for bathroom breaks and anything she else she might need such as water. At night I'll feed her dinner at her normal time and hang out with her until I go to bed, but make sure she has everything she needs first. I love snuggling with pets and have no issues with them sleeping on the bed with me, but it is extremely important to me to respect your home and belongings and I would want to know the house rules first. And oh, I know it only sounds like I only want to take care of girl dogs, but I swear, I like boy dogs, too!
