We hired Bear to sit with our 16 year old dog, Bonnie. He let us know in advance that he would be working some double shifts which were approximately 4 hours each shift with 2-3 hour breaks in between and that these shifts were during the day and no later than 9:30 at night. After his work he planned to be at the house with Bonnie. We agreed that this schedule would work for us. Unfortunately things did not go according to plan and it has taken me a couple days to look thru our security camera recordings to see what happened. Bear was at the house for 15 minutes between 6:05 and 6:21 for dinner Friday night and back at 11:48, about 2 hours later than expected. He left around 10am Saturday and his sister came by from 7:08 to 7:25 pm for Bonnie’s dinner. When there was no one at the house by 10:46 PM Saturday, I texted him to see what was going on. Bear responded that he was ill. That is unfortunate, but, 1) he should have notified me immediately, 2) Rover should have a protocol if this happens that someone will step in to finish what the sitter was supposed to do. I do appreciate his sister coming over to feed Bonnie, but Bonnie was left alone overnight that is NOT what we agreed on. She has tummy issues and needs to go out to the yard several times during the night. The last text I got from Bear was that he or his sister would be over Sunday to feed her in the morning and make sure she had dinner Sunday night, (she usually eats breakfast between 7-8 am): she was fed at 9:43am. Bear's sister left the key Sunday morning, so no one could make sure that Bonnie had dinner in case we were late coming home. We all know that life does not always go as planned. The measure of a service is how they prepare their employees for these moments and what the employees and the service do to fulfill their obligations to their customers. We were let down and are not at all happy about that. We look forward to hearing from Rover about what they are doing so that this does not happen to other families and their four legged loved ones.

Bear did a great job helping with our dog and cat. He is reliable and stays in touch to let you know how the pets are doing.
