Dog musher & trainer
Pet care experience
Hi! I’ve got 10 years of experience with dogs, cats, and tons of other animals in professional and personal settings. I’ve trained puppies and strays so I’m familiar with a variety of behavioral problems and how to manage them. I focus primarily on large breed, high drive dogs with a lot of energy and have worked with breeds such as Great Pyrenees, German Shepherds, Dobermans, Siberian Huskies, Standard Poodles, and more. If you’ve got a dog that needs some serious exercise and is at least one year old, please ask me about dryland mushing. My goal is to provide your dog a fun and safe experience, that will satisfy their need to explore their environment. If they have dog reactivity, anxiety, aggression or prey drive I’m happy to work with them and provide them training during walks with the owners consent. I use clicker training with a focus on positive reinforcement through praise and healthy treats. I am very experienced with reducing reactivity, bolstering confidence, creating a reliable off-leash recall, leash manners and directions, and more advanced skills such as agility and even skateboarding. I can do drop in visits and walks, but am willing to do housesitting with clients I am familiar with. For walks I can do anything from a block around the neighborhood to taking your dog for a hike up in the mountains.
Reviews
Bay knows dogs and they love time spent with him! He goes out of his way to try new things in exercising Hopper! We’ve used Bay twice and Hopper really enjoys him and we come home to a healthy, happy dog!
Bay was reliable and friendly and obviously loves pets. He was very easy to work with, followed our instructions with no problem, and kept us updated with photos of our pet. We'd be happy to hire him again if we need care for our pet.
Bay was extremely proactive and communicated quickly and thoroughly from our very first contact, inspiring confidence in his reliability. He arrived promptly each day and fed, watered, cleaned up after, and played with our cats. He also kept an expert eye on our two reptiles to make sure their habitats had all the water and heat they needed. I sure hope Bay is available to take care of our pets the next time we leave town!
This was the second time we’ve had Bay watch our kitty! Bay is awesome! He provides thorough updates each visit and photos of Cleo. Bay also watered the plants while we were gone which was a plus. We definitely recommend and will book again next time we’re out of town. Thanks again, Bay!!

I generally don't do as much housesitting now, but I always spend a lot of time engaging and playing with your dog while I am there. I am very organized and happy to do some cleaning and chores.
Information Bay H. would like to know about your pet
Does your dog have any behavior issues (eg: mouthing, barking & lunging at other dogs, prey drive) and how does the owner manage this behavior? Would the owner like me to use their specific training methods or try out my own with the dog? Is the dog allowed to have treats for training purposes? Is there a specific type of treat required? If no treats are to be used, what kind of praise and petting is most effective? Does your dog have any health conditions and if so what are the signs I should be vigilant for? Is there a specific way your dog signals stress or that they are uncomfortable that is different from other dogs?
A typical day
Neighborhood parks, beaches, and hikes in the mountains, whatever the owner prefers. I’ve got a NW Forest pass and Discover pass. I can also teach your dog to mush! I like to keep walks engaging, so I can help your dog brush up on their leash etiquette, or take them to a dog park or off leash area for some play time. I am always vigilant for signs of aggression at dog parks and have a lot of experience taking dogs to them. During drop-ins I like to walk or play with your pets first to get their energy out, and then if the pet needs to be fed I do this after any exercise as a precaution against bloat. I generally stay about 10 minutes or so longer than the 30 minute time Rover gives because your pet deserves the extra love and I want to build a strong relationship with your pet. For homesitting I won’t stay the night but I do spend the majority of the day at your home and as a rule I won’t leave your pet for more than 2-3 hours at a time. I have no problem doing minor chores like sweeping and watering plants as well.

Right now I primarily work freelance and am a part time student, so I have a fairly flexible schedule. I am also willing to drop almost anything if you or your pet needed my assistance in an emergency. I form a strong bond with my clients both human and animal.
