Pet care experience
For almost 6 years I had the privilege of calling myself mom to a wonderful, beautiful Shepherd mix who sadly, I lost to a brief illness (fall 2014). While I know my sweet boy can never be replaced in my heart, animals have the amazing power to help heal and are always a bright spot in the day. If I can bring some happiness to yours by providing a safe and loving temporary home while you're away, then it is a win win for you, me and your pet. For several years I also worked with an animal rescue organization as a foster parent and have had several amazing pups call my house home before finding their forever families. I love all animals but have a heart for those who might be feeling a little sad (like when mom/dad leave) and need some extra TLC. My back yard is large and fenced and I have a great walking trail just outside the front door, as well as several nice areas close by where I frequently walk dogs. I believed, as you might, that no one could every care for my baby like I did but, should you leave yours with me, I assure you I'll be a close second.
Reviews

Ridge loves Barrie! She is the only one we trust with him when we are out of town.

Barrie was extremely thorough with her pre-screening. Finally getting to meet her and watch her interact with my baby and the other pup she cared for made me feel very comfortable. She made me feel at ease and I'm certain they were both in good hands. She provided numerous photos and videos through the weekend making it really easy to not worry. I absolutely recommend her and will be utilizing her services again in the future!

Excellent care!

Barrie is wonderful! Sends pictures and videos that make leaving Ozzy easier. Ozzy loves her.

The dogs have free roam inside when I am home. For the most part the same is true when I am gone save for times I feel it necessary to separate dogs or crate one to keep them safe and/or avoid accidents for those who have that tendency. Often that just involves gating off my kitchen so they have a large but separate space. It is rare I feel the need to crate and usually only do so on the owner's advice. Dogs are allowed on the furniture and welcome to sleep with me as well.

Information Barrie W. would like to know about your pet
I require a full profile of your dog(s) (including a photo) completed on Rover so I know as much about them as possible before booking. In particular, I want to ensure they are up to date on all shots, vaccines and flea/tic medication, and what their disposition is around other dogs. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs we will not be a good fit as I almost always have multiples and like to be available for my regular clients as much as possible.
A typical day
I have a large back yard where your dog can run and lots of fun toys for he/she to play with, a walking trail right outside my front door, and live a mile from Highland Avenue where I regularly take dogs for long walks. Dogs who are well trained/behaved on a leash preferred. I work full time but come home for lunch to let dogs out and play. They are generally not alone for more than 4 hours at one time. If your dog is used to being kenneled at home when you are away, I will maintain that routine at mine. If your dog has free roam inside, and is not destructive or mischievous, they are free to do the same at my house.

Availability
My schedule: I work a full time job 8-5 outside of the home, but I am only 10 minutes away and come home at lunch when I have dogs staying so they are not left more than about 4 hours without going out and getting some play time.
