Pet care experience
I love spending time with dogs and cats, and am knowledgeable in aspects of feline behavior and training! I am happy to house-sit while I take care of your babies so they feel safe staying in their own home. I have been working with animals since 1997 and have my degree in Vet Tech from Columbus State including experience with companion animals as well as horses, cattle, goats, llamas & alpacas, pigs, etc. I was a canine boarding technician at the Animal Hospital of Worthington for several years (walking, bathing, nail trims, anal gland expression and administering medications), OSU - taking care of more exotic animals (mice, rats, rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters, amphibians, etc.) and the Gahanna Animal Hospital as a Client Care Representative. I am experienced in administering more invasive treatments such as giving insulin and shots, medicated food (prescription diet or medicine in food/pillpaks) and sub-q fluid administration. I also have experience in fostering newborns (100% survival rate) and can provide bottle feeding. My personal experience also includes small primates as I grew up around them and assisted my family with their care, as well as animals like deer and other local fauna who need outdoor care/feed. Unfortunately my schedule only allows overnight care and weekends so I have a somewhat limited availability, but I am able to stay at your house while you are out of town and am happy to discuss your needs in order to make sure your animals are well taken care of!

Quick to respond and very friendly. Came over and met the dogs twice so they would be very comfortable and familiar. She provided text updates with a picture and left a detailed notes of when she fed the dogs when she walked the dogs and when she gave the dogs their meds. I felt very comfortable knowing that my dogs were in good hands. I will definitely be contacting Barbara again and I highly recommend her services.
Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I was very happy with the way my animals were treated under Barbara Comeaux' care. It cannot be stressed enough how well she took care of them along with their medical and emotional needs. I have 2 older large dogs and 2 older cats who are all very emotional. She was the professional at all times and made sure my dogs who were both receiving medication received their meds on time and even set up a schedule she could mark off as it was completed. She was even there for me when I needed to get a medication re-ordered and picked up for them. She was also a great help in updating me on their health during the time she was with them. We were gone for 2 weeks and now my animals have another cheerful and safe friend they can count on. I recommend Barbara with the highest appreciation and regards. Thank you Dianne

I need to know if you have ever had any troubles with your pets having aggression or biting. Also, does your pet exhibit any possessive issues over food or toys? If you have multiple pets, do they get along well? I also would like to know any medical history that you have concerns about - any prior surgeries or injuries I should be aware of.
A typical day
I am happy to involve the animals in appropriate play in order to keep them mentally stimulated. I'm also a fitness fiend so going for walks at various paces with your furry friend is right up my ally! Do you have a cat that likes to go out on a harness? No worries. Sometimes a nice, leisurely walk is a welcome alternative! Kitties will enjoy long play sessions with light pointers and toys to chase. I also love to play with dogs using games like tug-of-war or throwing balls and frisbees. Of course, there's always time for snuggles and I understand sometimes a break is required. It's soothing for your pets to get a nice brushing while soaking up the peace and quiet.
