Former Special Education Teacher

Pet care experience

PET FIRST AID AND CPR CERTIFIED I am a former special education teacher! I am very patient, reliable, and passionate about helping others. My experiences caring for other people's pets and my own will allow me to provide excellent care for beloved family members. I understand our pets are valued family members and should be treated as such. I have two dogs, two cats, ten chickens, and a Rooster! With my learning behavior specialist background (special education), one of my specialties is managing behaviors. Many skills I acquired working with special needs children and teaching have also helped me train my pets! I look forward to servicing you and your family members :) Fun tid-bits about my pets: My dog Linda is unique- when we first adopted her, she was very anxious because she came from an abusive home. We have been able to help integrate her into our home and build her confidence through positive reinforcement training and counter-conditioning to reduce her anxiety. After working with her, she co-exists beautifully with the remainder of our pets. I also enjoy enrichment activities to help high-energy pets stay occupied and stimulated. Fun fact about my two cats, Dublin and Gabriella- both are amputees! Before I adopted both of them, they were involved in accidents involving their front leg being removed. My amputee cats get along wonderfully with our two big dogs.

This is our 3rd time having Barbara take care of our girls while we are away and she never disappoints. Barbara is so caring and considerate and always keeps us updated on anything going on with our girls. This time our older beagle, Penny, decided she wasn’t too happy we left, and maybe feeling extra hungry and ended up making a mess and getting into mischief in the kitchen. Barbara notified us right away, and took photos of the remaining evidence Penny left in the kitchen. Luckily with her great assessment skills we worked on a solution together, and no one needed vet care after trying to consume doggie bags and chewing on a plastic bottle. We trust Barbara so much, and it’s so reassuring to feel comfortable leaving your babies with someone who will treat them like their own. And the photo updates she sends always makes us smile. We love seeing the girls happy and playful while we are away. We will definitely always seek out Barbara for our girls.❤️❤️😁
