Pet care experience
I have been dog walking for the last two months and have received only five-star feedback! Previous to this work, I have owned multiple dogs throughout my life, starting in childhood, and love spending time with all kinds of dogs and other animals! I have done pet sitting for both friends and family, visiting either during the day or overnight. Currently, I have two wonderful kitties, which leaves a canine void that is best filled by helping others with their dogs when they are busy or out of town! I have lots of experience administering medication (oral or injection) to animals. Personally, I have a healthcare background, and am currently completing a graduate degree in public health. My flexible research schedule allows me to be available during the day, and dogs are a happy distraction from the academic lifestyle. I enjoy people, and value getting a chance to meet a dog's owners for everyone's comfort and safety. Things I would like to know include owner preferences for walking/playing, if the dog has any allergies or medications, and what the policy is for treats and food. I would also like to know what the dog likes, what the dog might not like (noise, etc), and if the dog enjoys other people and/or dogs. I would also ask if the dog has ever been aggressive, if he/she is prone to overheating, and ask for any other details the owner can give me about their pup!
A typical day
I love walking dogs of all types and energy levels, and will tailor the walk/play to your pup! I would usually take the dog on a loop around the neighborhood, allowing sniffing/exploring, and gravitate toward any nearby green spaces that allows dogs. For playing, I like tug-a-war, petting, gentle wrestling, and playing with toys and balls. Dogs I walk are NEVER allowed off leash while outside the apartment, as safety comes first!
