Lover of all dogs here to help!

Pet care experience

My name is Avery, I'm 31 years old. I lost my 16.5 year old rescue pup in November 2020 and started working part time on Rover to help fill the void as I navigated missing the vicarious joy that comes from walking, playing, and adventuring with a pup- the floppy tongue, the wagging the tail, the pep in the step, etc. I have puppy experience through raising my own dog as well as nannying for a family with a yellow lab puppy who I helped raise. I'm a regular contact for a few families who know I give top notch care to their pets, but am always open to new clients. I promise to play, run, romp around, and take the best care of your fur baby- including sending you pics while you are away. I also love finding & going to local dog parks, with the interest and approval of owners. Open for overnight boarding and daycare.

Avery was amazing! My wife and I were DEFINITELY nervous about leaving our two rescue dogs with someone who we did not know. Avery was both patient and understanding on the phone when we talked about their needs and their history. When we met, she was patient and listened to our dog crazy comments about them, asking questions but mostly just hearing what we were thinking and feeling. Within 30 minutes of dropping off our dogs, she had sent a picture with a text message about how they were doing, and she sent a few others over the course of the next few hours. She was supportive and reassuring, making sure we knew how they were doing. She gave one of our dogs a simple prescription as well. She communicates very well and consistently. We would ABSOLUTELY recommend her and use her again if we are ever in the area and in need again. Thanks, Avery!

Avery was great! She was very responsive and detail-oriented. As well as patient and understanding with our senior pup (13 yr old lab). I would trust her with our dog anytime. Thanks Avery!

Safety, trust & environment

Exercise: I am willing to walk or play rain or shine! I structure the exercise schedule for the dog based off their pre-existing routine and consideration of their age, energy level, and stamina. Dogs are always leashed while on walks unless requested otherwise and in a place where they can be safely off leash (such as a dog park). Dog park play will always be cleared with the owner because you know your dog best! I am able to offer hikes on the weekends or adventures to water if your dog would be happy doing that. Special needs: I can handle almost any medication or special needs a dog might have, as long as instruction is provided in written form. Grooming/bathing: at request and with supplies provided. Boarding and daycare: I try to treat your dog as an honored guest in my home. I usually get to know them outdoors in my fenced backyard where we can play for a bit and get to know each other. I then introduce them to the house and set up some fresh water bowls in my kitchen and room so they are familiar. If there are rules around furniture or feeding, I will try to keep those consistent. - Regardless if a dog is boarding or just with me for the day- their care and safety is without a doubt my priority for those days. I pride myself in being responsible, trustworthy, forward thinking, and very dog savvy and would love the opportunity to prove this to you by caring for your pup. - If there are any special requests or services you don’t see mentioned, please feel free to ask and I will try my best to accommodate! - Tips after care/service completion are not required but if you’d like tip cashless, my venmo is @Avery-B-1 or PayPal @aveb91. Thank you!!

Information Avery B. would like to know about your pet

I will always defer to the owner in terms of knowing their dog best. If you have leash training you are working on, I want to know what you do! If you have favorite spots your dog likes to go to, I’m down. I would like to know about any separation anxiety beyond the normal “some crying but they eventually settle.” I do have housemates and want to be respectful of noise. I expect to spend 95% of my time with your dog, but do like to go to the gym in the evening and have small local errands to run during the day. Knowing the dog’s behavior while crated or left alone is helpful for me to determine if they are a good fit for my needs too. I want everyone to feel safe and have fun, so that I can assist in the best quality of life for your loved one. Dogs are a part of the family and deserve everything we can give them. Please let me know if your dog is not okay with stairs. If so- my house may not be the best fit as i have 2 sets of full stairs in my apartment. It’s a 3 story building and my apartment is on the second and third floor (my room is third floor). I am strong and able to carry most dogs up to 100 lbs- but want them to be comfortable above all.

A typical day

Walks or runs on the street, in the woods (if allowed/feasible), playing 1 on 1, dog park visits, light grooming. I love walking to various parks from my house and going on the different paths there. I also live walking distance to a bike path and usually take walks there. Both sites are safe and more distanced from main roads with cars. Plus, between those two routes alone I can clock around 6 miles of walking, for the more energetic and active dogs. I love to throw a ball or frisbee around as well. Nap times are usually a must for a dog of any age and after lots of play or walking, some down time is needed! I can provide a quiet and cozy setting for this complete with AC in the hot months.

I work full time, but am remote with two partial days on-site. I make my own schedule for the most part and am self structured from day to day, very flexible! I have a few regulars through the week, but will always be transparent about another dog’s stay overlapping with your request- including details about that dog and even trying to arrange a meet and greet if that helps. I will never risk a poor match for the sake of having multiple bookings.
