Summit's House

Pet care experience

Dogs have always been a part of my life, and my current dog Summit has been an amazing companion. He started his puppy hood by living with 27 Alaskan Huskies while I mushed sled dogs for a winter. Since then we have traveled all over the united states hiking side by side. We volunteered for 2 months at a rehabilitation/healing center for dogs in California called WAG Healing. We met all types of dogs, many with issues that prevented them from being adopted. Summit is also the star of my outdoor adventure themed youtube channel. Austin was great! I could tell that my dog Annie liked him from the start, and he really seemed to "get" her. During our first "meet and greet" time Austin asked lots of questions about Annie -- her likes/dislikes, what was allowed (is jumping up on the couch OK?), etc. I could sense that he has an intuitive understanding (and love) of dogs. Annie seemed happy and relaxed when I picked her up after her first day with him. I will continue to bring Annie there every week. I trust Austin to care for her as he does his own dog.

When Austin meets a dog, he stays open to who the dog is and how they operate. Once he understands them, he finds creative ways to engage them in play and discovery...activities for both mind and body. Austin is grounded and all-in with animals....truly a vacate for your animal!

Austin came to my kennels and helped out for 5 months and with 20 dogs here let's just say, He did an amazing job. plus he has his own pup that he takes everywhere with him, He is the most conscientious person I know , Pays attention to everything around him, I would trust him alone with my whole Kennel. He is more than qualified for this job, Lori Sampietro owner-Montgomery Adventures

Our home is super dog friendly, they are allowed on our couch and of course you can bring your pets bed and toys so they feel more at home. Summit is good about sharing his toys as well. We have a small back yard where Summit likes to stare at the squirrels. It is fenced in and in the summer we leave the back door open so the dogs are free to go in and out. I am 32 and live with my girlfriend who teaches at UVM. Thanks for checking us out and feel free to ask questions.

Although we still adventure, our travels have come to an end and we have settled down in the dog friendly city of Burlington. Located in the old north end, We enjoy walks around town, exploring the many forests outside the city and a daily trip to Starr Farm dog park. In the summer we enjoy going to swimming holes and long hikes. I am self employed and work from home so am constantly with the dogs. I plan for your pet to accompany Summit and I on our daily adventures so he/she must get along with other dogs. Between Summit's adventurous spirit, my work as a dog musher and my stint at the WAG Healing center, there is nothing I haven't seen or dealt with before regarding dogs. I'm open minded so if you have special needs like your dog takes medication or bolts and can't be off leash just let me know.
