Pet care experience
My name is Athena and I'm an Air Force veteran. My husband and I are retired and I wanted to get back to working with dogs again. I have a great deal of experience with dogs and animals in general. I founded Okinawa Stray Pet Rescue in 2016 which has saved over 1,000 animals. I also trained dogs professionally for several years. I am willing to offer basic obedience training and leash manners on walks and visits, additional charges may apply. I LOVE DOGS! I will treat them as if they are my own! I personally fostered more than 100 dogs/puppies. I have experience with all ages and size. My own fur baby is Sasha my 13 1/2 year old Newfoundland. She is sticking around for us as long as she can. I look forward to meeting you and your amazing furbabies. I have been trained in Pet First Aid & CPR.

Athena was amazing! It is not easy to leave our babies with a stranger, but she made us feel very confident that we made a great choice with her. She accepted our reservation in a very short notice and always responded immediately to our questions. She sent regular updates and photos of our pups and we could tell that her whole family spoiled them. We could tell that our babies were happy and content when we picked them up from her. We recommend her with no doubt!
Athena is so great. I felt totally comfortable leaving milly with her. Athena has wonderful experience with dogs and was so easy going. Milly cannot wait to come back!

I am very comfortable with dogs of all types but please let me know if your dog likes to escape, run or has other behavior issues to be aware of. It is important to know how your dog reacts to other dogs and humans he/she does not know. Also please share any health related concerns or special needs.
A typical day
While I’m not house sitting in my home, there is a dog park right next to my apartment and if the client wishes I would gladly add a dog park play session in with our walks, or drop-in visits if nearby.
