Positive reinforcement dogwalking
Pet care experience
I use clicker training and positive reinforcement training with my own dog and would be happy to bring this into my interactions with yours. From my own experience, I believe that compassionate and force-free interactions with dogs can really build their confidence. I hope to bring this attitude to walking your pets. My dog has behavior issues that we have been working through with intensive training. She is reactive, and we've worked through many of her behavioral issues over the past year with the help of professional trainers. Because of her reactivity, we don't yet go on the long walks I envisioned I would before I got a dog. I would love to take care of your dog walks in the meantime!

Astri is better with dogs than anyone I know. The time and dedication she has put into her own (very reactive) dog is astonishing. She is kind, patient, and engaging. She is a perfect fit to work with any kind of dog--from dogs that just like to snooze all day to nervous dogs who need constant enrichment. Astri is the best! She is organized, responsible, and dependable. She has experience with numerous pets and has also fostered many dogs and cats. Astri is super knowledgeable about dogs training, and I always reach out to her whenever my pup acts like a little turd. Astri's advice is always SO helpful and applicable. When I introduced Astri to my dog Zuzu (2 year old rescue mixed breed) on a visit from out of town, she immediately became Zuzu's favorite human auntie. Astri has taken Zuzu on talks, trained her, and even camped with her. My dog LOVES her and can't wait to visit again!

I always keep dogs on leash unless I know they have reliable recall. I have a range of 6-foot, 15-foot, and 30-foot leashes I can use depending on the situation. I always secure the dog with a doggie seatbelt if I ever need to take them in the car. I'd like to know whether the dog has any allergies and if you'd like me to bring or use treats. I am very flexible during the summer months as I teach during the academic year. Starting in mid-May, I will have very open availability on both weekdays and weekends.
