Astraea was great with Callie. She was very quick to respond and took great care of my dog.

When I met up with Astraea prior to booking, it seemed like things would work out and she liked my dog and vice-versa. I communicated clearly the concerns I had for my dog's safety while under her care, since he is an old dog with a long back. I specifically asked her not to let him get up on high surfaces and avoid any interactions with other dogs. I felt like these things were understood by her. I neglected to visit her home before booking, something I regretted later. While I was gone Gunther was injured from trying to get up on her brother's tall bed. Fortunately, he recovered in a few days and didn't have to go to the emergency vet, but he was in a lot of pain initially and was heavily limping. This situation could have been disastrous. She did apologize for what happened. Since returning from my trip I have tried multiple times to reach out to Astraea in order to set a time to chat face to face about what happened, to try to learn what happened as I'm not really clear about that, and to identify what we both would have done differently if we had the chance to do it over again in order to avoid this problem in the future. I thought this would be a better thing to do than exchange text messages which left me feeling like I didn't really understand what went on while she had my dog. We live close to each other so it's not like either of us would have had to travel to the next town. Unfortunately, I have been very disappointed at her overall lack of communication and responsiveness. Since I returned from my trip, she has been a very inconsistent communicator, sometimes responding that she'd like to set a date to chat (in fact we did have a date set up and she canceled at the last minute because of illness) and sometimes not responding at all. l had been holding off on writing this review until she and I had a chance to talk openly about what happened. I even asked if we could just have a quick phone call if that would be easier for her. Unfortunately it's looking like we won't be having that conversation and I'm going to stop trying to set something up since it's been about a month of wasted effort on my part. Based on my experience with her, I cannot recommend her for pet sitting. I don't doubt that she likes animals and gives them love and attention, and she is a nice young person who seems to sincerely want to help people out when they need pet care. But I don't think I would feel comfortable having her take care of my dog again and I am concerned about her lack of communication. Even though I am now a former client and not looking to book pet care, given what happened I feel she should have made a more concerted effort to talk with me.
