Daycare Tuesdays/Wednesdays only

Pet care experience

My home is in Albany, located conveniently right off I-5 in a nice, quiet neighborhood with solid 6 foot fencing around the entire back yard and 4ft ranch style fencing around the front yard that has a low voltage anti pet fence around the top to prevent escape artists from leaving unexpectedly. Pick up and drop off times for day care or boarding services are flexible with pet parents frequently dropping off as early as 0600 and picking up as late as 2200 (on request, there is no extra fee). I am not offering dog walking at this time due to a knee/foot injury, however, Dog Walking services generally consists of a 30 min. walk around your neighborhood, or with your permission your dog can be taken to a fenced dog park or walked more vigorously in a less urban environment (please ask me about this if you are interested!) HOW DAYCARE WORKS: **my workload and school schedule has changed for this year: I am currently offering Daycare Tuesdays and Wednesdays only until further notice** Sometimes the app doesn’t send messages through properly. If you don’t receive a response from me within one hour of your contact please feel free to message me again. I prefer to send photo and video updates via SMS because the Rover app doesn’t like large files and stalls on videos longer than ten seconds. Be sure to provide your cell number after you are booked as an emergency number but also to receive longer videos/photos. ****** Please continue to wear a mask when entering the play yard (regardless of vaccination status) until further notice. I realize we’re all very tired of wearing masks but it has a long lasting effect, sometimes permanent damage, when I contract even minor illnesses. I appreciate your understanding. ****** Our large, fully fenced, front yard has been converted into our own private dog park! I’m always improving and adding to the yard with toys, agility equipment, pools on hot days etc. If your dog has a favorite obstacle or play toy please let me know and I will add it to my list! The pick up and drop off area is adjacent to the driveway. I ask that all pets remain LEASHED until they enter the air-gapped entrance and then please TAKE OFF your leash completely BEFORE entering into the OFF LEASH play area. I ask that a photo of your pets vaccination history be included with all new client booking requests. I require rabies, the full DHPP series and Bordatella/Kennel Cough. Established clients only need to update vaccine records on a yearly basis. For extended stay boarding clients I require a release form to be on file with your vet in case of illness or injury so your pet can be seen while in my care. Check with your vet to see if they have a form, if not, a statement letter will suffice. I recommend having such a medical release form available for any length of stay but it is required for extended stays. If you have questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask. ****** I’m usually up around 5am to let them out for an early morning potty session and a small snack. We go out at 7:30 for the first full play time. When they’re tired at around 9:30 we come inside and everyone has their full breakfast. They potty again and then settle down with a chew toy or for a nap until around 12:30 when we go outside for another play session. They usually want to have a nap around 2 so everyone gets a snack and then they nap until about 4. At 4:30 we start to get ready for pick up time and everyone goes out for another big potty/play session as parents arrive for evening pickups. **Heatwaves and Rain/cold will affect this play schedule. AC and heaters are used to keep the indoor playroom temperatures stable and sun sails and water activities are used to keep the outdoor area cool** Any dogs who stay the night have their dinner around 6:30. Depending on the energy level of the dogs we do one more play time at about 8pm and then settle down for the night with a chew or puzzle. I have dogs of my own and their care and safety is my number one priority. I care for all dogs as though they were my own. I try to set every dog up for success during their stay by getting to know each dog and meeting them where they are at behaviorally. The family room has been converted into an indoor doggy playroom. I use baby gates/exercise pens to create a safe environment for dogs to nap and play to their hearts delight in small play groups of comparable size/activity levels. The playroom room has toys and beds and is accessible to every dog at all times. When the weather is good I bring beds outside and they can nap indoors or outdoors but the door is left open so they can choose their favorite spots. My whole house is vinyl/wood flooring so puppy/senior accidents are no big deal. Dogs do not have access to the kitchen or bedrooms (boarding dogs have access to the bedroom at night, when my husband and I are present in the room).

I chose Ashley to board my dog this time because after a previous experience, I was looking for a more professional, thoughtful set-up. From first communication to final pick-up, that is exactly the kind of service we received. I was impressed when we first arrived: Ashley has converted her yard into a playful shady haven for the pups that makes pick up & drop-off super easy. She was waiting outside with the dogs both times we were there, which I appreciated, as well. There was record heat the entire time my dog boarded & Ashley had a pool, a mister, fans & AC inside for the dogs. The photos she sent showed my dog interacting with other dogs who matched his size & temperament & he came home the appropriate amount of tired & stinky. He looked like he was in slightly better shape than we left him! Super happy I found Ashley for Blaze.

Ashley’s cat boarding service gives me the peace of mind I need when going out of town! My cat loves birdwatching on the catio. Ashley was great about sending me photo updates as the trip went on. 10/10 recommend!

Our dogs seem to have a good time while in Ashley’s care. I’d definitely use her again. She has a dig friendly front yard where they can meet & greet others. Ashley sent us photos of the boys enjoying themselves which was nice.

A typical day

Prior to 2020 I took my own dogs to the local dog park daily and to visit all the dog friendly businesses in town to work on socialization as often as possible. I built my own private dog park in my front yard due to COVID closing down everything and now my dogs get endless hours of enjoyment and exercise with friends. They have a plethora of toys, couches and tires to climb on, a swimming pool with a misting sprinkler and sun sails to provide ample shade. They also have an indoor play room with blankets, beds, toys and chews. A detailed breakdown of a typical day is in the pet care experience section.
