Mental and Physical Exercise here!

Pet care experience

COVID19 Update: I am opening back up my services for dogsitting once again. Any client drop off must consist of both parties masked. Thank you, Ashley I have a broad experience with many different types of dogs. Since I was young, my family always took in strays and rehomes and it's something that I have continued with as I grew up. I have experience both owning and watching small dogs, large dogs, high energy (border collies and heelers), low energy, high work drive (malinios), anxious, reactive, confident, and multiple dogs. I also have experience managing multiple dog households in which one dog was dog aggressive/reactive. I state this since I know what it's like to try and get a sitter for the "problem child" of the household. I believe dogs are happier when they have a job and love working to find out what dogs enjoy doing! Some dogs enjoy using their nose, others enjoy climbing and jumping on things, some dogs like trick training and some dogs enjoy chasing the ball! But at the end of the night, all dogs like some cuddles and sleep. I currently have two dogs of my own, a border collie and a blue heeler and we are very active averaging about 6-10 miles a day between walking/running. I do not have a fully fenced yard but I also don't ever use my yard as a way of exercise, the yard is purely to go potty or to lay down in while I work outside. Your dog will always be on leash when going potty even if it's below freezing. I am also a semi-recent Washington state transplant so rain and crappy weather don't bother me for exercising your dog! I have a separate room in my basement that I have nicknamed the "doggie playroom" filled with toys and is larger than my own bedroom! If your dog is not kenneled trained, this is where they will stay when I have to pop out of the house.

Ashley provided terrific care of my dog, Lucy, and was very communicative and helpful to me before and during Lucy's stay. Lucy got to stay and play with Ashley's dogs, but Ashley was attentive to introducing them in a way that allowed them all to acclimate to each other. Ashley provided good care and outdoor time for Lucy, and was attentive to a raw paw pad that came up just before her stay. She tried some new training tricks with Lucy and I'm looking forward to learning more about those and getting them myself! Thanks for the great peace of mind and the good care you provided Lucy! We hope we'll be able to work with you again!

Ashley was incredible. Our puppy is a little high maintenance around other dogs and also has a very hard time being left alone. Ashley accommodated those needs readily and cheerfully. We were a little nervous leaving our puppy for such a long time but Ashley's confidence and frequent updates put our minds at ease instantly. She clearly knows a lot about dog personalties and training techniques and even sent a picture of her partner snuggling on the ground with our pup! Ashley was very responsive and and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that our dog was in good hands. We would definitely use her again!

Ashley is a responsible and smart pet sitter. Teo learned to behave and socialize with dogs. She sent pictures almost every day during the 2 weeks Teo stayed. Teo was happy with her and her dogs. I recommend Ashley to my family and friends for pet sitting.

Safety, trust & environment

Clients have their own separate room (my home office) for bedtime and when dogs need to be separated (calm time, feeding, needing to be left, etc). I do not require crating but strongly prefer to take on clients who crate their pups due to poor experiences of client dog’s shredding door frames. If your dog isn’t crate trained, we may have a conversation beforehand about a plan of action if your dog does destroy things when left alone.

Information Ashley P. would like to know about your pet

What are the owners concerns? Do they have any behavioral or health issues I should be aware of? What would their ideal day look like for their dog?

A typical day

Depending on the time of the year, dog, and owner's preference I am comfortable with a variety of activities. I am willing to walk or run your dog, play fetch, visit dog-friendly places, and even hike/backpack with your dog. I also have a variety of mental games to adequate exercise your dogs mind: from scent hunting to pulling (canicross or weight pulling) to trick training. I am also willing to learn anything new that you might use with your dog, learning about dog training is a strong interest of mine. If your dog is dog reactive, I also have no problem exercising your dog separately from mine.
