Exceptional Care and Play

Pet care experience

Welcome to my page! I have owned and taken care of pets of various sorts since I was a child. I had a pet care business when I was a preteen, I trained horses on and off over a 30-year span, I worked at a dog and cat veterinary office in my teens as a vet tech, and I had a therapy dog that I used in my counseling business for eight and a half years, until she went over the rainbow in 2020. I went through Canine Good Citizen Training through ARF and my dad taught me dog training as a kid, which I implemented with all of my dogs. I have had a deep love for animals all of my life and would be a very good fit to responsibly and lovingly care for your fur baby. For drop-ins and walks: Every owner gets a photo when I arrive and when I leave. It provides a time stamp of when I am visiting, maintains a sweet visual of owner's babies, and I love photography. So it is a win-win for everyone. I am very detail oriented and provide a report at the end with my photos and/or collage. I have been a massage and acupressure therapist and wellness instructor for over 20 years and have worked on my dogs, cats, and horses. If you need massage or acupressure therapy for your dog or cat, I can provide that service. Rover does not offer this as an option at this time, but we can discuss how to include this in your job request. If you are wanting my services and my calendar looks like I am booked on the dates you want, please message me to confirm. Sometimes I am full with dog walking but not for drop-in visits or transport visits and visa versa. The Rover app isn't always accurate, so when in doubt, message me with a request. I am Red Cross Pet First Aid certified and I have Pet Care Insurance (PCI139232). My truck has a hammock cover for the back seat, for transportation, and all dogs get buckled up for safety. I am careful to follow all directions to ensure proper care, and I am very respectful to care for a clients' home when I arrive and leave. Clients can be assured that I am very responsible, safe, trustworthy, and dependable. My pet care is individual and specialized. I enjoy learning about each pet and providing them with individualized care that best suits their needs. All dogs are kept on a leash whenever outside and are latched in when they are in my truck for transporting to appointments, parks, or day trips. I can also take your pet to the vet or groomer and bring them back to your home. Cats that like to dart out are given other greeting options to secure them indoors. I only give treats provided by owners. On days when it is over 95 degrees or if air quality is poor and an earlier or later time is not available, I provide 15-min outside walks and then indoor playtime to optimize health safety measures. I do provide cooling measures such as a wet/cool towel in my truck, water on the go, and a water spritzer to keep cool. If we don’t go in the truck, I will wet paper towels and wipe down my pups after walks to help them cool down. If owners have a small towel available on hot days, I will use that instead. It is essential that all of my pups are properly cooled off before I leave on those hot days. If there are two or more pups in the house, I highly recommend having more than one water bowl available, especially on those hot days, so I can fill them up and know they are able to stay hydrated.

I am a safety girl, so new pups will usually be on leash with me when we are outside for Ranch boarding. All walks are on leash unless there is a safe liberty area where we can play together and take liberty photos. All pups will have some exposure to our animals for Ranch boarding. They will be on leash with me until I determine they are comfortable and safe with all of my livestock. I have an area in the meadow that is contained and away from all livestock where pups can be at liberty as well. I also have agility equipment for pups who like additional play adventures.

Information Ashley O. would like to know about your pet

**THIS SECTION IS VERY IMPORTANT** Please let me know if there are any special needs, medications, food prep or preferences, touch or sound sensitivities, or behavioral issues. Premium pet care is my goal, so I love knowing the details. My experience and preference is best suited for NON-AGGRESSIVE pets (I will explain below). If your pup pulls or lunges EXCESSIVELY, I highly recommend additional training to prevent any injury to yourself or myself. I am here to walk dogs, not to be excessively pulled around by them. I cannot stress the value and importance of a well-trained pup, :), as I have had to work on human clients, as a bodyworker and corrective posture specialist, who were injured while walking their dog. There are excellent leashes that help with pulling and I highly recommend checking them out and giving them a try. I can provide some training to reinforce manners, but if my time requires more training than walking, I will need to adjust my fee to accommodate the additional work. Please consider the following with all of your pet care communication 1. Feeding: If you have specific feeding amounts, only provide the amount and type of food you want to be fed. If you only want one can of wet food, then only put out one can of wet food. Also make sure to specify ONLY ONE CAN OF WET FOOD and the day you want that wet food given. And let me know if you want the dish rinsed out. Be detailed. It really makes a difference and it matters to premium pet care providers like myself. 2. Medications: Same as above. Only put out the medication you want given. If there are multiple bottles out, it can be confusing. Have all medications in ONE area. Leave specific directions. With my pet, I will send my pet care provider a video. I have done this with everything, actually. This allows them to watch me prepare the medication and administer it to my pet. Super handy. 3. If your dog pulls excessively: I do have training experience and different types of leashes that are helpful with pulling. Let's honestly and openly talk about what will best serve your pup on my walks with them so they are getting the very best care all around. Remember that we are their leaders, not the other way around. 4. If your angel is aggressive: My preference is to work with and care for non-aggressive dogs and cats mainly because I am a super hands-on personality that loves petting, snuggling, massaging, and playing. Being up close and personal is my thing and I am nutty about having fun and loving my pets. Aggressive dogs and cats require special attention and time (which is important!!) that often precludes being close, hands-on, or petting and snuggling. This prevents me from enjoying this part of my personality and it takes away the joy of my job. This is honestly where I shine. So though I provide basic training and I love all of these sweet fur babes, I don't train aggressive dogs and have to love these pups and kitties from a distance. I hope this makes sense. 5. I study pet behaviorists and trainers like Cesar Millan and Jackson Galaxy. They have videos on YouTube for everyone to watch and I highly recommend each pet owner watch their videos, especially if you have an aggressive or anxious dog or cat. Our pets are invaluable and often times their issues are caused by us, the owner. So please take the time to learn about what makes your pet tick and how you can provide the most optimal environment for them so they are happy and healthy. 6. Communication: This is a HUGE part of my business. If you are out of the country or the WIFI is spotty (which happens!), I will be using the texting option to maintain all notes of my visits as well as sending photos and collages. If this is still an issue, please consider sending your phone number to text, call, or send an email address. Communication is absolutely essential. If I miss a step, an owner can catch it in one of the rover cards or in a text message and then clarify what needs to be done. This can make a big difference in making sure pet care is as optimal as possible. IF communication does not occur, please be understanding. Technology is not full-proof. If in doubt on anything and you can't message me, please call me. 7. Consideration: As I become busier, it is imperative that everyone consider one another. There are times during each day that many people want pet care. I usually prefer to focus my time for one on one visits and walking, but also understand the importance of pack time. As I build my business, I am going to be looking for pups that play well with other pups during busy times, so that I am able to provide the best pet care for everyone all around. I do also like to work with special cases, so I will need to take this into consideration as well. Please be patient and thoughtful toward other families who want my services. I am here to love on everyones' fur babies, so let's keep our lines of communication open to make visits and walks seamless. I hope this section has been helpful for you. If you need links to the behaviorist and trainer that I am studying, please message me and I will send those links to you. Have a pawfect day and I look forward to serving your family!!

A typical day

Depending on the pet and their needs and abilities, I will play indoors and outside, go on walks, let them get out their energy at the dog park, on hiking trails, and if it is an option, go on a little drive to the beach where they can enjoy the sand and ocean. There are a number of local parks, trails, and neighborhood loops, so I am up for whatever your fur baby needs. For dogs who just want to hang out, I am up for snuggling up on the couch or getting down on the floor and making myself cozy with them and their toys. When owners provide ample toys and treats, it provides an excellent way to have fun and give them special care. I also love taking photos, so plan on getting a few extra photos of your angel while you are away (check out my current photos!). As a general rule, I prefer to walk my dogs one at a time to give them optimal attention and supervision, but have a dual leash system to pair up playful paws.

With Ranch boarding, I am home most of the day unless running errands. If a pup is travel-able, I will take them on an errand adventure and send photos as we go. If I am close to a Starbucks, I might drive by and get a pup cup for a treat, if it is okay with the owner. My husband works from home, so for pups who prefer to hang out at home, they will keep my husband company inside the house until I get home. Pups always have access to fresh water and needed outside potty break time.
