Canine Cabin Retreat in the Woods

Pet care experience

You love your dog. You strive to provide your dog with excellent care and sufficient exercise. You want to put the time and the work into training your dog. ...but sometimes you have a hard time fitting it in... You are busy... You work full time, putting in 8-10 hours each day... You know that when you made the decision to get a dog, you were committing to providing daily care, exercise, and training for your dog. When you get home, all you want to do is relax... But you feel guilty...your dog needs his/her daily exercise... Oh and training... Forget it! Classes don’t fit your schedule. You are dedicated, you just need a teacher. Someone to coach you through the process And provide some relief during the week... Having someone walk and train your dog at the same time would be a dream... You want to come home to a happy, well behaved, tired dog... A dog that is ready to relax with you. A well mannered dog... Well, look no further! I can ease your mind... You no longer have to feel guilty You CAN come home to a happy, well behaved, tired, and relaxed dog. You CAN RELAX when you come home. And rest assured your dog will get the training it needs! Your Homeschool for dogs has arrived! CONTACT ME TODAY! I am a lifetime dog owner/lover. In 2009 I discovered my passion for working with dogs and started actively training my dog(s). My dog, Popeye has his Canine Good Citizenship through AKC. I fostered dogs for 4 years for a small Pit Bull Rescue. All of my foster dogs received crate training, basic obedience training, and socialization while living with me. I am a Certified Search and Rescue K9 handler with a Retired SAR K9, Popeye (I trained him) and have been involved with K9 SAR Since 2012. In August of 2016 I started training dogs (beagle, lab, or springer spaniel) for bed bug detection. Thus I usually have one dog in my home for training in addition to Popeye. I am an active person. I love hiking and walking with dogs! I am a firm believer in incorporating our animals into our everyday lives. I also believe that dogs are at their best when they are given structure (defined play time, exercise/work time, and rest time). Thus, this is what I practice with my dogs and my clients' dogs.

Ashley is great!! My dog Terra can be nervous around strangers but Ashley knew exactly how to gain her trust. Ashley has been doing midday walks when I am at work, and she has also boarded Terra for a four-day weekend. She has been reliable and caring and Terra loves her!

Ashley took very good care of Cisco while we were overseas for 12 days. Ashley took immediate control of Cisco, which impressed me. He never barked at her from the get go, so I could tell she was going to be a good fit for Cisco. She sent photos of his adventures and communicated promptly if I had any questions. I highly recommend her.

Ashley was great! I would definitely be happy to let my dog stay with her again if I go out of town. My dog is leash reactive (training in progress), and Ashley has experience working with reactive dogs, so my dog was able to have a nice, comfortable stay with her. She sent daily photo updates, and even sent my dog home with a sweet card and some treats! Highly recommend if you're looking for someone you can trust with your pup.

I am open to ALL BREEDS! Leash reactivity? Dog social? Human social? Separation Anxiety? Nervous or Anxious? Excessive Barking?—I want to ensure your dog can have a peaceful, stress free stay with me. Depending on severity of behavior, I may need to charge an extra fee due to the extra attention I have to pay to dogs with these behaviors. What’s your daily routine? Is your dog crate trained? If not, I can work with you and your dog to get you on the right track. All dogs ride in crates in my car for their own safety. My car is equipped with 3 crates (2 large, and 1 small). Each dog gets its own crate. I do NOT mix dogs from different households, unless specifically requested or approved by the owners. Introductions are always done slowly.

A typical day

*Walks and playtime with your dog, including interactive games that encourage and teach good manners. Real world dog training, Not staged! Your dog learns how to behave in real world situations. *Boarding in my home (NOT a Board and Train)--Client dogs are NOT forced to mingle with my dogs. Crate and Rotate is my Motto! Each dog will get it's individual time with me. If you choose to have your dog mingle with my dogs, introductions will be done slowly and interaction will NOT be forced. All dog play/mingle time is supervised by me. Dogs are never left loose together unattended. ~Dogs are fed separately. ~Price includes 1 walk/hike per dog per day. Additional walks will incur an extra charge of $10/walk/dog/day. *Boarding prices include 24 hours of care on ONE end of the stay. If you need 24 hours on both ends of stay you will be charged for daycare ($35/day). Noon is the cut off time. For example if your dog's stay starts in the morning (before noon) on the first day and ends in the evening (after noon) on the last day, you will be charged for daycare. For those seeking WEEKEND CARE: I am happy to do boarding on weekends. Just know I will be away from your pet between the hours of 8am and 2pm for search and rescue training with my dog. Training keeps our skills fresh so we are effective when called out to search for lost persons. Regardless, I PROMISE your dog will get his/her daily exercise!
