FT Care-Training-Friends-HugeYard!

Pet care experience

Dogs are family. Each dog I've had has been a spoiled and loved member of the pack. I have experience working with and training animal assisted therapy dogs. I have lots of experience. We will arrange a meet and greet at my house to ensure we all feel comfortable and confident that I am good fit to care for your dog. In anticipation of our new puppy joining the pack, I have been thinking about what I want my days to be like and what my goals are for training our new puppy to be a good doggy citizen. In preparation for welcoming our puppy, both Gideon and I have been “relearning” our old training programs and learning new training techniques. We are working on a series of training programs to help our puppy grow and learn with the goal of having our puppy not only be a great citizen but also compete in field trials with other dogs.
We use positive reinforcement training methods, and we use both treats and affection as a means of praise. We incorporate hand and body language with simple commands that are designed to help dogs learn to be responsive to what you want from them. While we have not made a point of specific training “regimens” in the past, hopefully your dog has picked up a few skills as a byproduct of being a part of our pack. Going forward, we will be much more attentive to training, as we want our puppy to have the best start in learning to be a great citizen. When we are training our puppy, the other dogs in the pack will also be a part of the routine. To be clear, training is meant to be fun and engaging, and most dogs simply think we are really going out of our way to interact directly with them. So no need to worry about us running a puppy boot camp. Instead, each day we will be incorporating deliberate training into our routine. The good news is that your dog will also benefit from our puppy training! That being said, we are going to be putting in more work in caring for all dogs, as we will have to be disciplined and consistent with our entire pack to ensure our puppy has the best start. And given we will be putting in more work (and that many days I am already at capacity). If you have booked with me before you will notice I have raised my rates to compensate for that time and effort. I currently stay at home with my kids and I will be home to give your dog lots of attention and outdoor time in our large fenced yard. I have a fun little established pack of daycare clients throughout the week. I board one dog at a time, unless you are a family of more than 1 dog, I would consider watching both of your pups. I will only host 3 dogs at a time. The dynamic will typically be my puppy, 2 daycare dogs, and the addition of a boarded dog. Watching your dog while you are away is rewarding for my whole family. If your dog enjoys playmates and hanging out with a family I think we would be a great fit for your fur baby! Your dog will also likely return home with even better behaviors than when you left them. I will also consider hosting extended stays if we both feel we are a good fit for each other. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Kind regards, Ashley

Ashley was fantastic! As a new rover user with a young puppy, I really appreciated that she did a meet & greet. It immediately put my mind at ease. She was very accommodating to my pups needs & there were plenty of updates throughout the day. I’ll definitely be rebooking with Ashley!

Ashley and her family are awesome. They are great about providing updates and our dog Keta loved hanging out with their pup Hoff. Would definitely recommend!

Ash was awesome! The meet and greet was a great idea. She was very flexible and sent tons of pics of my pup Groot. I’ll definitely check back in with her the next time I need someone to watch him.

Information Ashley D. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know about your dog's personality. I want to know what your dog's favorite games are. How much exercise is normal for your dog? Is your dog food motivated?

A typical day

I have a fun little established pack of daycare clients throughout the week. We are home for majority of the day with the exception of short errands and taking my son to and from school. We enjoy spending time in our yard, and your dog will too! There is good bird and squirrel watching, and enough room to play chase and ball. We even have a sand pit for digging and wrestling. Our favorite dog park is Magnason Dog Park. If dog parks is something your dog is into we will totally bring your dog there during their stay with us, especially on the weekend when there are no daycare friends.
