First, allow me to introduce myself! My name is Ashlan. I'm 29 years old. Born and raised here in Baton Rouge! At a very young age, I developed such a big love for animals and just like most of us say when asked the question " what do you want to be when you grow up?" I chose veterinarian every single time. We always had dogs and different pets in my family. My mom, brother, and grandmother, have all always been huge animal lovers just like myself. As I got older, I would pick up stray animals off of the side of the road, and if you tried to tell me not to, you would fail miserably. There was no way I could pass up any animal wandering around, lost. I picked up so many Strays and brought them home, always telling my mom" I swear I am looking for a home for it tomorrow!" Knowing in the back of my mind that would be plenty of time for her and my grandma to get attached. So half the time we ended up keeping them. All of the animals I have today are all rescues as well. Anyway, at the age of 16 I worked for Kleinpeter Veterinary Hospital doing some kennel work with a friend of mine. I absolutely loved it. People would always ask me how I enjoyed doing something like that, and my answer was simple, I am surrounded by animals all day long. What more could I really want?? After working for Kleinpeter, I also worked for Sherwood South Animal Hospital, Azalea Lakes Veterinary Hospital, and Shenandoah South. I then decided I wanted to start a pet sitting service, but of course lack of funds stood in the way and I was also diagnosed with an illness that I needed to focus on at the time. So, I found Rover in hopes to meet and build relationships that I can eventually bring into my future pet sitting service of my own. I believe it takes a special kind of person to care for an animal, especially someone else's baby. It takes knowing the true meaning of responsibility, caring for that pet as if it were your own, having love for pets that is simply unexplainable to someone who does not know this type of love, professionalism, good work ethic, and reliability.
