DC’s favorite catsitter!

Pet care experience

10/2023 update: I am currently not offering any housesitting services and my drop ins are limited to 7 days a week, before noon or after 6 pm only. Thank you for your cooperation! —— 😻 Hi there, I’m Asal; if you’re looking for an ideal cat sitter, I’m your gal! From neonatal kittens to seniors who required medication -- I have positive experiences with all ages and temperaments. I have been pet sitting on Rover for over two years now and while the majority of my clients are cat owners I’m no stranger to caring for a wide range of pets including dogs, hamsters, and birds! I’ve always been a huge animal lover and want to make your pets feel as comfortable as possible when you leave home, ideally, they won’t even notice you’re gone. You can rest assured at night knowing that I take pride in my work and will respect your home and your pet’s boundaries. • I reply quickly, usually within three hours • Located conveniently in Arlington, VA • I believe animals deserve just as much respect and empathy as people do ✨ COVID-19 policy: I am fully vaccinated and will clean/disinfect any surfaces I touch while in your home. A mask will be worn during meet and greets, and I can wear one during the stay as well as gloves, if that makes you more comfortable. Looking forward to hearing from you about your furry companions!

I believe this is my third review and the umteenth time Asal has looked after Charlize. As always, I come home to a happy, calm kitty, and I love the detailed updates and photos from Asal while I’m away. Asal has been looking after Charlize when I’m away for almost a year now and I hope for many years more!

Asal took amazing care of my boys, and they are not simple! They are both on medication and special diets and Asal was more than willing to tackle everything. My new go to for sure!

This is my second Rover experience with Asal. Both times I’ve been so pleased with Asal’s services and the security of knowing my pet is in good hands. The daily updates and pictures give me peace of mind and can visibly see my pet enjoying each visit. Highly recommend!!

This was my second time using Asal and I knew my kitties would be in good hands. She didn’t disappoint; she exceeded expectations. Not only is she great with my cats (who don’t warm up to just anyone). She also always leaves my house looking as good as or better than when I left. I 100% recommend her if she is available to watch your pet babies.

I don’t provide cat/dog boarding at my place just because I have a cat who is less than enthusiastic to additional furry friends being around. That being said, I do offer overnight stays at the clients home if your pet is the lonely type. I make sure to clean and disinfect any accidents, bring in packages delivered to your front porch, water your plants, put out the trash, etc.

Information Asal N. would like to know about your pet

For cat owners: how active is your cat, what is your definition of abnormal behavior to watch out for, do they enjoy catnip, do they drink out of the toilet bowl, do they like greeting new guests or will they stay hidden from me for the duration of my visit? For dog owners: how leash trained is the dog, do they need to be re-directed if another dog approaches, how many times do they go potty on a walk, is there any furniture they're not allowed on, what is their level of obedience training/how well do they listen to commands such as "down" "off" or "leave it"?

A typical day

For cat drop-ins: I begin the stay by talking to myself/the cats as soon as I enter the house so no cats are startled by my sudden presence. I’ll play music and sing as I go around scooping litter, changing water bowls, sprinkling catnip around until feeding time. I try to play with the cats ahead of lunch/dinner to work up an appetite but if they’re shy and won’t come out I’ll just fill their bowls and give them their space. I also coat their favorite toys in catnip and then scatter them around the house for them to hunt, if that's something they enjoy. I also toss treats from room to room so they can hunt those too. I really enjoy brushing cats and getting their coats all silky smooth if your cat tolerates being groomed. For dog drop-ins: More or less the same as it is for cat sitting, I talk to myself and play music so we're not just sitting around an empty house all lonely. I like to stick to the dogs routine as much as possible so if you have a favorite dog park you like to visit I'll take them there otherwise I let your dog lead the way around the neighborhood until we loop back around. I'm not much of a rough-houser so my play is very tame, some tug of war or throwing a ball, maybe chasing them around the backyard if it's fenced in but I don't do wrestling. If your dog is a big bedtime snuggler that's great, I love to cuddle!
