A+ Sitters

Pet care experience

When booking with us, you will have two very highly experienced sitters working for you and your pup. My partner (Anthony) and I own our home in West Seattle and have a spacious, fenced-in backyard for dogs to enjoy at all hours. Previously, we cared for pups under my partner Anthony’s profile (see https://www.rover.com/members/anthony-b-a-sitters/ to take a look at our past reviews). We have greatly enjoyed meeting new pups and their owners, and we are especially fortunate to work with numerous regular clients. We own a 11-year-old Aussie named Mickey, that loves other dogs (see more below). Personally, I grew up with animals my entire life, and love being around them. Mickey also loves getting to know pups. One of us is always available to spend time with your pups. We do not allow pets on furniture, but the pups will have free roam of the house and property. We know firsthand the feeling of leaving your dog in a new place, so we keep our home clean and tidy and always make sure to send updates and photos to put your mind at ease. Our dog Mickey was about 3 years old when he came into our home, very anxious and with many unfortunate habits and health issues. Mickey required a great deal of love, attention, and patience, and this paid off because the changes in Mickey’s health and behavior have been transformational. In fact, the main reason we started working with Rover was to help socialize Mickey. Now, years later, Mickey is very comfortable and not aggressive with other pups and people, and mostly Mickey assumes other pups are as friendly as he is. Our experiences with Mickey and other pups since have made us very comfortable with pups of all energy levels and different needs. We do require that dogs we board are FULLY house trained (meaning they must have complete control of their bladders if nervous or excited), fixed, and friendly with other dogs and people. My partner and I are always around, so your pup will have lots of attention and as many breaks outside as they would like. They also get regular walks, weather permitting, of course. Our backyard is completely fenced and there is no way for pups to escape unless they're diggers and are able to dig into the neighbors' yards. Either way, they are never left unattended and will be watched at all times. Pups will receive full-time attention from us 24/7. Whether your pup is out for a walk, relaxing with the pack inside, or playing with the pack outside, my partner and/or I are always supervising them. We never leave pups in our care unattended. Before scheduling a meet & greet, we have a series of questions that we ask you to answer. This pre-screening questionnaire ensures that any signs of aggression are thoroughly vetted to avoid any aggression issues during the meet & greet. Each request is handled in this manner so to weed out pups that may have behaviors that would disrupt the harmony of the pack. We then have a meet and greet, which we similarly use to weed out pups that may turn out not to be compatible with the pack. In these ways, we very selectively invite pups that we are confident will get along with the pack based on our experiences boarding over one hundred different pups. If your pup ends up staying with us, you can rest assured knowing that your pup will be staying in an environment as free as possible from aggression because we do not tolerate it. We strive to get to know your pup's personality and adjust accordingly to make sure that your pup is comfortable during their stay with us. For example, in terms of backyard play time, if necessary we can easily have different backyard play or exploration times for big vs small, aggressive vs passive, or even loner pups. Finally, we thoroughly inspect and clean our backyard every morning before letting any pups play, and of course, we monitor our backyard throughout the day. Similar to inside our home, which we clean constantly because we live here. In these ways, we keep up a healthy environment, free of hazards for your pups.

Arni and Anthony are communicative and thorough for the dogs they care for. We were not worried about Milo’s social life during his stay!

We are so thankful for the loving care that Arni & Anthony gave to Buddy Taco. It’s our first time leaving him for more than one night and now know that he’ll be happy and well-cared for when we decide to take a longer trip. We’ll definitely be back, hopefully soon!

Arni and Anthony are great dog sitters! I was impressed with their thorough vetting to ensure the safety of all the dogs. This was my 5 months old pup's first boarding experience, and she had a blast. They sent daily photos of her playing and zooming with other dogs, which always made my day. I would highly recommend these guys! Thanks!

Safety, trust & environment

In order to maintain a safe environment for all pups and maintain the trust of all our clients, we send a detailed temperament and behavioral questionnaire to any new potential clients before even scheduling a meet and greet. This ensures we do not accept pups that can potentially harm any of our regulars. One example is, if your pup is "very protective" of you around other pups, we cannot accept them due to attention resource guarding that can potentially lead to snapping or nipping at another pup that also wants attention. We also have folding gates set up around our house so that we can feed pups separately. The gates also keep the pups from running outside if we open the front door. The backyard is spacious for pups to enjoy and we never leave them outside, unattended. Your pups are never left unattended and are allowed to roam around our house. Sometimes they are not in our sights, which is why we send a temperament questionnaire. We only accept pups that will not try to dominate the others, especially when they are wandering our house and manage to leave our field of vision.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN INITIALLY SENDING US A BOARDING REQUEST Our regular guest pups have been screened for aggression, ensuring that all the pups in our care get along without worries about injuries caused by aggressive actions from others. To ensure the safety of all pups in our care when receiving a boarding request, we send you a detailed questionnaire that includes questions about your pup's temperament toward other pups and various situations. If the answers are satisfactory and we feel your pup may be okay to introduce to ours, we schedule a meet and greet in our home so they can meet only our pup (not our guest pups). If we see signs of concern during the meet and greet, e.g., face or neck biting, snapping, or growling at our pup if he is being petted by the other pup’s owner(s), etc., we may not board them. This is attention resource guarding and can be problematic for us. If we choose to board your pup(s), you must be aware that sometimes the boarding or daycares may not work out and we may decide to stop accepting your pup(s), or even cancel and request transfer to another sitter if their behavior changes in any way that causes us concerns for the safety of the rest of the pack. These decisions, however difficult they may be, are made for us to maintain the trust that our regular clients have in us for the safety and care of their pups. Another reason we may discontinue care of any pups is if we find that they have had more than a few accidents inside our home and continue to do so, even after they are used to our home and being around the other pups. We are not trainers and do not try to train your pups, but have observed that some of the pups that have been coming to us for a while have learned some indoor habits from observing our own pup’s habits. We always strive to be the best sitters for your pups and are heartened to see our regulars arrive, excitedly yelping and jumping with joy when they pull up and hope that yours also reacts the same way if they become part of our regular pack!

A typical day

We are very experienced and comfortable with different types of dogs, high and low energy. We will walk your dog miles and miles whenever possible, and your dog will get lots of attention and frequent access to our fully enclosed backyard, where the dogs can burn off excess energy usually with other pups in our care. We also have lots of toys to keep dogs busy on rainy days. Finally, we know every dog is different, and Anthony and I are both great at adjusting.
