Pet care experience
Aside from growing up with dogs and cats, I have been working professionally with them since 2010. I have experience in private practice veterinary clinics, as well as animal shelters, in a variety of roles: medical, adoptions, education, and investigation. I am comfortable with the full spectrum of animal care, from working with dogs on their basic training to administering insulin to a senior cat. Additionally, I hold a bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences focused on science and medicine. My job has made me confident interacting with dogs, cats, and small mammals with all different kinds of personalities. I do not shy away from challenging animals and I enjoy building a relationship with them. I am patient, compassionate, and dedicated to all the animals in my care and will do everything in my power to make sure that they have a fun experience with me. I know that your pets are family and they will be treated like such while they are with me!

April was wonderful! She had clear affection for my two cats and definitely understood their personalities and needs. She sent us pictures everyday, which was very helpful because I had been worried about our recent cat addition. It was great knowing they were both in good hands. I would definitely use April again.
I know April through work. We both work at the Champaign County Humane Society, and April is our Humane Educator and Investigator. April is a huge dog lover, and she also has extensive knowledge about dog behavior and proper care and techniques. I would trust April to care for any of my pets. April would be a great dog sitter for Rover.
I have known April for 8 years, and in that time she has taught me more about animals that I otherwise would have never ever known. From training my dog to serious medical questions that I had no idea about, she always had critical and valuable information to provide to me in a way I could understand. If you are looking for someone who will love your animal as much as you do and also want your pet to have the best care possible you don't need to look any further. She will go above and beyond to take care of your pet and make sure that they are not only safe and loved, but she also works with animals in a way that allows them to learn and be a better pet for you! I know she loves all animals in all shapes and forms so regardless of what kind of animal you have I truly do think she can do an amazing job watching and caring for your pet(s).
April has been dedicted to pet/wildlife caregiving as long as I’ve known her: whether it’s through volunteering at shelters and wildlife sancutraries during her freetime or even appearing on the local news to promote adoptions, she’s invested in the quality of life of our favorite companions! Her skill and strength in handling animals never fails to astound me. Once while she was fostering a slightly skittish (but no less charming) pitpull, I joined them on their walk when we were soon assailed by some erratic kids wanting to meet him. One girl in particular came in a bit too hot and before I could even sense the tension, April had him held firmly by the collar as he was preparing to give a warning gnash. It’s that kind of poised but watchful attitude that makes her such a trusty caretaker for anyone’s pet!
