The Cat Whisperer & Dog Soother

Pet care experience

I have always loved animals. My goal for the longest time growing up was to be a vet, but, really, I think that was simply because I wanted to work with animals. After digging deeper into pet sitting I realized that it is a perfect combination of getting interact with a variety of animals as well as caring for them. I truly enjoy building a relationship with both the pet and the owner and learning each family's preference for interaction and care. Now that I have pet sat for Rover for several years before and after the COVID-19 pandemic I have come to learn what I really love about being a pet sitter: helping families be able to comfortably and confidently go out for work, day adventures, and/or longer trips and know that their pet is happy, safe, and receiving loving care at home. I LOVE being able to provide that sense of ease for both pet and owner. This passion is especially true for pets that have high anxiety due to travel or being left alone. I adore helping people feel like they can confidently leave their house while their pet stays where they feel most comfortable and safe. Please reach out anytime (even if you do not have any specific sitting needs yet) if you would like to discuss anything. I am also happy to preemptively arrange Meet and Greets so that I am able to meet you and your pet(s) so that you all can make sure I am a good fit for caring for a member of your family. Why do a Meet and Greet even with no pet sitting needs yet, you may ask? By getting the Meet and Greet I will be able to more easily care for your pet (and home, if needed) should anything last minute come up. Meet and Greets before any type of pet sitting is highly recommended to ensure everyone, especially the pet, is comfortable with a person they are not accustomed to coming into their home. I love being able to help people and their pets, especially when the unexpected happens, so please feel free to reach out even if it only to simply have me on the books as a back up for all those last minute moments when you need a pet sitter.

Anne took lots of photos followed all directions we gave and went above and beyond by bringing in packages we had outside. Stellar service! Very easy to work with! Will absolutely contact her again for future needs :)

Anne was exactly what you're looking for in a pet sitter. I really can't stress that enough. I have two cats, one of whom takes oral meds via pill pocket. She came over for a meet and greet with them and was a kind and warm person who made me feel at ease from the start. The cats felt similarly and warmed up to her quickly. She told me her goal was to make my time away and return as stress free as possible, and she delivered on that goal completely. My house was exactly like I left it. No messes to clean up, no problems to solve, and a freshly scooped litter box so I didn't even need to do that when I got back. She sent updates with her visits each day including notes about how the cats were doing, their behavior, and multiple pictures. I've never gotten that before, but it was very nice to have! She was great with my cats who really seemed to enjoy her visits by the end (and they don't normally take to strangers like that). Just as importantly, she's the kind of person who you feel like you've been friends with after meeting and talking with her the first time. 5/5

Anne met our dogs prior to watching them for a weekend in our home- she was prompt, sent pictures, wonderful communication and our boys loved her! We will definitely use her again in the future if the need arises!

Communication is very important to me. I will be as transparent as I possibly can with you and send pictures while I am with your pet. I want you to feel comfortable telling me what you need and expect while I am caring for your pet. I also want you to know that notes and messages are always welcome, so please leave or send as many as you like. Notes especially are always great reminders for me so I can confirm what we discussed about your pet's care at the Meet and Greet or incase any information since they has changed. For Dog Owners: To make sure your dog has the best possible time with me I want to discuss with you any topic you want to cover. This includes food, walking habits, crate issues, anxiety, and so on. Since you can't always be with your fur baby (or babies), I want to make sure the time in-between is a good one, filled with happiness and joy (even though it won't be anything compared to when they are with you). For Cat Owners: I will want to know some basics about your pet, like personality and quirks, as well as any preferences they may have. Depending on how you want me to care for you cat will change a few things, but I can give you an example of what I do for drop-in visits (most common care requested): I spend at least 30 minutes in your home, checking up on everyone and making sure everything is fine. I change the water, give them more food (following your directed procedure), and clean the litter box. I then spend the rest of the time playing and snuggling with your cat(s), giving us plenty of time for photo ops that I then send to you! Please note that I will not force your cat to come out and interact. Part of my success in building trust and a relationship with the cats I care for especially is basically ignoring them and letting them come find me once they feel comfortable. I will try my best to get pictures, but if your cat is anxious and chooses to hide from me I will not invade its space to get a good picture and stress it out more. This practice is done out of having a highly anxious cat of my own and learning best approaches first hand.

Information Anne M. would like to know about your pet

How social are they? Aggression level? What are they aggressive about? Any bad habits? Favorite games or toys? What are their “safe places” (especially helpful for cat sitting)?

A typical day

Depending on requests and what is needed a visit could include walks, games, creating fun new tricks, snuggling, and/or just general check ins and top offs of food and water.

I am a mom (human and pet), substitute teacher at the YMCA, and pet sitter. My flexible schedule allows me to be able to easily care for pets at almost any time during the day. On the rare occasion schedule conflicts happen or changes are needed I always communicate with the owner. Transparency is extremely important to me as a pet sitter and pet owner, so I will communicate with you as much as I would want my own pet sitter to do for me. This means verify (even if we already discussed it) that drop-in times are flexible or I will be late or early to a drop-in or house sitting. Please note that I previously house sat and would always stay over at people’s homes while caring for their pets (unless otherwise requested). Now that I have a child sleeping away from my home is more challenging, but not impossible. I am happy to discuss options that will work for both parties, such as my child also staying with me if your animals are ok with children or if you are comfortable with a series of longer visits throughout the day and I do not spend the night. Your and your pet’s comfort are very important to me as a pet sitter and I will happily discuss with you as many options as you like to find a solution you are happy with.
