Annabelle was great and our pup loved her visit!

I am forced to give a one star review but she deserves lower. We contacted Annabelle to house sit and watch our three dogs (one elderly). We scheduled 3 dog walks over two weeks to meet our dogs and go over our expectations and work to build a relationship with them. During these three visits we performed almost the dog care and essentially paid her to meet us and our dogs, no actual services were performed. On the 2nd visit she asked to reschedule dye to illness, these things happen and we were understanding.she did not arrive at the rescheduled time and when we contacted she apologized and asked to again reschedule. On the 3rd visit we again discussed our expectations. We bought snacks and refreshments so Annabelle would feel comfortable and not have to spend her money while staying in our home. We expressed that our dogs are good for 4-6 hours unsupervised. She inquired about their sleeping arrangements and asked if they were all welcome to sleep in bed with her and we expressed that is not required but that is what they are used to. One the first day of our trip Annabelle showed up at the agreed upon time and all seemed well. At approx. 630pm she left, did not stay over night as discussed and agreed to and did not arrive until 730AM. After communicating to me she was "about to feed them" at around 645AM. When we asked if/why she did not stay in our home she gave my wife and I conflicting stories about eating, feeling sleepy and mistakenly falling asleep and told me she didn't realize that was the expectation. During the visit we showed her the guest room, and went in detail about the expectations. Due to the complete erosion of trust we cancelled our trip, paid to change our flights and came home. We're still not sure how, "please don't let them go for more than 4-6 hours unattended" equals 13 hours on the FIRST day of our trip. Thankfully our 16 year old dog was ok but the complete lack of trust and concern from Annabelle about performing the duties she agreed to (and was paid for) is enough concern to warn Rover clients to look for a walker/sitter who will take caring for your pet and home with the degree of seriousness it deserves.
