Serving dogs for three generations

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Anna and I love pets. I have been training dogs for about 8 years, and I am a third generation German Shepherd trainer. My grandparents bred and trained Shepherds in both conformation and obedience trials for a few decades, my mom grew up with them and continued to train and show them intermittently through her life, and now I am continuing the tradition. I have two pets currently, two special needs Domestic Shorthairs named Spriggan and Suika. I had a German Shepherd dog named Calcifer, but he unfortunately passed from congestive heart failure. He was being trained for medical alert service work. I have lived with cats for 20 years, and dogs for 10. I can teach basic obedience, potty training, good leash behavior, socialization, and basic tricks (roll over, shake, etc). I live in an apartment currently, so I am not able to have your furry family member stay with me, but I would love to help you out with walking, daytime check ins, and house sitting. I have also worked at 41k9, a doggie daycare and boarding facility. I’m either in with the pack, temperament testing, or giving baths and preparing rooms for our boarders. My experience is predominantly with German Shepherds, but I am more than capable of handling any breed, no matter the difficulty.

Information Anna S. would like to know about your pet

Things I need to know about your four legged friend: 1) What commands does he know? 2) What is his temperament like? 3) What is he reactive to? 4) What are his allergies? 5) Does he have anything that he particularly likes getting into that he isn’t supposed to? (Mulch, poop, garbage, etc.) 6) Are there any types of people he doesn’t like? (Men, women, people with hats, people with beards, etc.) 7) Does he have a favorite toy? 8) What is his favorite snack? 9) Any other things (sounds, smells) that might spook him/trigger his fight or flight?

A typical day

I will go on walks where ever the dog needs improvement (ie, where ever he might be skittish or agressive) and teach him that nothing is more important for him to be paying attention to than whoever is holding his leash. If that’s not your fancy, I’m also more than happy to go for a leash relay neighborhood stroll, or a walk at one of Toledo’s many beautiful metro parks.

Availability

I am currently working with one German Shepherd service dog prospect; since she is so young she needs multiple shorter experiences, so my day is broken up around that. Other than those obligations, my schedule is pretty open. I only take days off my schedule if they’re already full or I’m certain that I won’t be able to take clients that day.
