Experienced and Athletic Dog Sitter

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Anna, and I am a Dog Kennel Attendant and Daycare manager of 2 years. I have worked in facilities that are open with 170 dogs walking around at any given time, so I am very well versed in dog body language. Currently, I work at the Pet Lodge in River Vale where I maintain the kennel and manage the daycare dogs. Additionally, I’ve volunteered with several local rescue organizations such as Halfway Hounds and Peace4Paws. I am trained in feeding, canine first aide, and giving medications to the pups. I also have been trained to calm anxious and nervous dogs and diffuse situations before they happen. Dog safety is my number one priority. I'm not afraid to get bit if it means that your best friend(s) will stay free from harm and be comfortable. Working with so many dogs on a daily basis has taught me that each pup is unique, like people. They have individual personalities, and, as dog caretakers, we must form a special bond to them, catered to those personalities. I believe in establishing this relationship based on respect and love. After all, I know I'm more likely to listen if my boss treats me like an equal rather than aggressively scolding me. Dogs are just furry kids! Additionally, I will make sure they get plenty of exercise. I hike and run regularly to maintain a level of physical fitness that enables me to do the job. An under-exercised dog is a destructive dog. Rest assured that no couches will get destroyed while you're gone. Your doggy will be up and active with me! I would love to care for your animal. I will make certain they have the best time, whether it’s just a walk or their family is away on vacation.

Both my dogs took a likening to Anna, quickly! They loved her! She was always keeping us updated about everything and helped tremendously with our disabled dog, Otis. Will defiantly request again.

Anna is very kind and loving - she was really good with my high energy, large dog - highly recommend!

Anna is one of the few people I trust to walk my girl, Daisy. Daisy used to be a bit "unruly" on the leash, but Anna was able to straighten that right out, it's amazing how much better Daisy is on a leash! Daisy is usually slow to warm up to people, but she gravitated towards Anna right away. Anna is the perfect dog walker, no matter what kind of dog you have.

Animals are very important in Anna's life. They are treated just as any person would be and cared for with all the love that one should for these precious gifts we are given. She has the patience and "know how" especially for the "special needs" ones that you come across. Anna is responsible, hardworking, and understands how important our pets are to us which is why I would trust her with the care of my pet when I need someone to take care of mine.

Safety, trust & environment

I treat everyone’s pet like they are my own. I learn their personalities and quirks to tailor the best walking experience. Every dog is different, just like people. They are individual, have their own opinions, and stick to them. I will figure out how your dog prefers to be treated and exercised exactly like I do with my own. They will always have the best time.

Information Anna L. would like to know about your pet

Before sitting for your dog, there are a few things I would like to know: 1. Does your pet have any separation anxiety? This trait is important for me to know because it will help me orient my care-taking strategies to make your dog as comfortable and calm as possible. 2. Does your dog like to socialize (with people and/or other dogs)? Knowing your dog is more of a people's dog or a dog's dog will help me plan our hangouts and outings accordingly. Maybe your dog prefers the company of one person, then we'll stay in and play. Maybe your dog loves to chat with other ones, then a trip to the dog park it is! 3. Does your dog get possessive (over food, water, toys, etc.)? Dog safety is my number one priority. If your pup likes to have his things to himself, I don't want to intrude and potentially upset him! 4. Does he/she have any pre-existing medical conditions? Like I said, I want to make sure your best friend stays happy AND healthy while I'm there. I can't do that if I'm unclear on their history! 5. What are YOU expecting from this pet-sitting experience? Lastly, I want to know what you want your doggy to get out of my visit. Perhaps you have some skills you're trying to establish, like increased socialization or less discomfort around strangers. You are their parent, and I want to guarantee their experience is what you want.

A typical day

As I said, I am an avid hiker and runner. I like to do these things at least 3 days a week. We will go on walks for as long as your pup can handle to ensure they get their exercise in. Of course, depending on your doggy, where we go depends on them, but I am willing to go anywhere! Dog parks are certainly an option if your dog loves to socialize!
