While I've always taken care of family pets, I began dog and cat sitting for friends and acquaintances about 4 years ago. Because I am not at a stage in my life where I can have my own pets, I shower pet love on the animals I care for. Making sure pets are well cared for is my first priority. One special dog whom I have dog sat for on several occasions, Ruby the Coton, often requires special care. On one such occasion, I was booked to watch her for 6 weeks when within days of her family's departure, she had to go in for emergency back surgery. The family trusted me to care for Ruby during her recovery process. The care included the management of her medicine, vet appointments, monitoring her physical well being which including taking special care while lifting her in and out of her crate for potty breaks. More generally, I am happy to play with dogs, walk them often, and help to train them according to the training style of the owners.
