It'll take a lifetime to show my gratitude to dogs

Pet care experience

My journey towards becoming a dog lady started a little later in life as I had been brought up in a home where I raised cats. I realized that I love cats and dogs equally when I became a regular sitter for a dog owner over a 3 year period. I walked her twice to three times a day, cuddled and played with her, fed her, and took her to the vet, and stared at her nose freckles until I teared up. I fell hard and fast for this pup, and it quickly established a pattern in which my heart is revealed to be on my sleeve for dogs For cat parents: My 8th birthday gift was an adopted kitten; another for my 12th, and a 3rd when I was 15. I left my two beloved cats with my parents when I immigrated to England a year ago. I don't mean to be a bummer, but the grief I experienced when they passed away (a month apart from one another) reminded me that my connection to animals are at the core of who I am. I care deeply about animal welfare. I’m of the belief that animals do more for to serve us than we do for them, and they deserve the world I have a part-time job at a theatre in the evenings, and I record audiobooks from home, so my schedule is flexible and I can commit to long stays. Unfortunately due to my rental agreement, I am not allowed pets in my home and cannot offer doggie or kitty daycare. I would be sure to observe and honor all the specific safety precautions in the pet owner's home. I like to do reccies of the route before I walk a dog in a specific area. I like to avoid pavements rife with chicken bones. I'm cognizant of cars, and make eye contact with drivers at zebra crossings to make sure it's safe for the dog.

Ana is a lovely and kind dog-loving soul. She accepted my last-minute request for a sitter (over a bank holiday weekend!) when my plans with another sitter fell apart. She sent regular updates and cute videos and asked a few questions to be sure she was getting everything absolutely correct. AND - she was able to stay on 2 extra days when my flight back to the UK was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. Tilly loved spending time with her and we will be sure to book her again when needed. Don't hesitate - let your fuzzy kid spend some time with Anna!

Safety, trust & environment

I am vigilant of cars, and would like to know if the dog is able to be around other dogs; or whether I need to circumvent the area. I don’t typically walk a dog off leash in public areas unless it is in a safe and familiar environment *** Unfortunately I am not comfortable taking care of animals who do not have access to an outdoor area ***

Information Anna C. would like to know about your pet

It's important for me to know how the dog feels and behaves around other dogs. If you are not comfortable with your dog off lead in parks where there are other dogs, or there's a risk they'll run away that's also necessary information. I should be aware of dietary needs and restrictions. ****I appreciate and empathize that it is difficult for some pet owners to find a home that has an outdoor area for their animal. I cannot however look after dogs that aren’t allowed to go on walks, and if I am to care for a cat, I am comfortable and delighted to do so under the condition that they have access to an outdoor area****

A typical day

There are few things as heartwarming as a dog's smile. They're often seen doing so when in a park. If the dog has a lot of energy and needs a run (and is trained to be off lead), ball games is a very fun go-to for all. Some dogs prefer sticks. I'd either take them to Barnes's Green or Richmond park, time slot permitted. If we have less time, we'll stroll the green residential areas, allowing them to stop and sniff the trees and lampposts, and the thing that I carry little bags around for, as many times as they like.
