Pets Are Family!

Pet care experience

I love all animals but most especially dogs! My experience in pet and house sitting began about 10 years ago with two small dogs belonging to my daughter-in-law and then with one large dog belonging to my daughter's friend. I loved being with and caring for these wonderful dogs. This is why I decided to continue to enjoy this "work" upon my recent retirement. My dog, Nala, is a sweet, loving, friendly, fluffy, 7 yr old rescue and a quiet (!) Pomeranian. Nala's foster mom recommended Rover.com when I was looking for a sitter. I was very impressed with how Rover works. I live in a condominium community. I can take good care of one dog in my home. If you have more than one dog or your dog is over 20 lbs, your home is best. My interests are National Public Radio (love NPR!), the humane treatment of all animals, walking, hiking, listening to music (classical, jazz, country, '50's) learning to be a vegan, watching sunsets, enjoying family and friends and taking good care of the pets in my care.

Ann is wonderful, beautiful, loving and caring soul! I would trust her with any dog and have, in fact, chosen her as the forever mom for a beloved foster dog I rescued from death row in the shelter, (now named Nala). I interviewed many people who wanted to adopt Nala and many great people applied. Ann still was very clearly the best home anyone could want for a dog. She is the BEST forever home and the BEST sitter anyone could hope for.

Ann is an absolutely gem!!! She asked all the right questions and has incredible attention to detail. We were completely put at ease - we had been nervous about leaving an ailing dog. When we went to pick up our dog - she didn't want to leave!!! Kinda hurt my feelings, but at least I know she loves Ann and her home!!! I couldn't be happier!!!!

Ann is a very responsible, caring house/dog sitter. She is very loving to my dog--walks her often and takes good care of her. She is very aware of any problem and attempts to figure out if the pet is safe and healthy at all times. She follows my instructions about caring for the house and my dog to the letter. She kept the house in excellent shape. I highly recommend her

Information Ann K. would like to know about your pet

At our preliminary Meet & Greet (your home or mine) I hope to learn as much as possible about your dog before my care begins. I will have questions to ask, such as, the cues you use that work, the schedule you follow with your dog, and any specifics that will apply to your dog's best care. If your dog is crate-trained, I will want to know exactly how and when you crate your dog. Please be assured that I will take good care of your dog and your dog will be loved.

A typical day

I have to admit I have a "Helicopter Mom" style which is most comfortable for me and means your dog will not only be loved but will also be well cared for and well supervised while in my care. Feedings are a.m. and p.m. (according to your pet's normal schedule) with very small treats at noon and near pet bedtime (or, as directed by you). Walks are a.m. and/or p.m. (according to dog's energy level and your directions as well as weather conditions). Exercise and games like fetch, tug-of-war, extra walks are as needed (and instructed by you, the pet parent). Potty breaks are every two hours and definitely before and after bedtime. I will brush your dog, clean their paws and clean under their eyes before bedtime unless otherwise directed. Thanks!
