Home full time caring for animals.

Pet care experience

Split level home. Four bedroom house, living room, dining room, breakfast nook, kitchen, two bathrooms, recreation room, large yard but not fenced in. I train dogs, cats, horses in sign language and verbal commands. I can give insulin and medication (s). About this sitter: My name is Ann. I'm 74 years old, live alone, twice widowed. Had a full background check. . I live on a fixed income. Presently retired. Use to work for the U.S. Government for 18 years. Four years for Defense, two years for U.S. Mint, twelve years for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Then went into police work for the Philadelphia/ Aston Township Police Department and also did crossing guard work for approximately ten years. I have my Ph.D in clinical psychology and give speeches on PTSD. I'm skilled and train dogs, cats, horses in sign language and verbal commands. I also give insulin and medication to any and all pets that need it. I'm a warm, compassionate, understanding, fun person to be around. I love animals and children immensely. To know me is to love me...lol I have a great sense of humor and my philosophy in life is: In order to get respect you must give respect. I write poetry, short stories, and articles for publication. Love jet skiing, horse back riding, swimming, dancing, hot air balloon rides, carnivals, amusement parks, hope to go to Florida someday and swim and ride with a dolphin. I go to Lewes, Delaware every year and go dolphin watching. Enjoy mini-golfing, and last but certainly not lease I love to dance and sing. I'm a professional singer for the last thirty years. Perform as a soloist on stage. I'm also a Public Speaker. There is more that I could tell you but don't want to write you an "Epistle". This profile is about you and your loving animal (s). You have the idea of the type of person that I am. . IT IS A REQUIREMENT BEFORE I TAKE IN YOUR PETS THAT THERE IS DOCUMENTED PROOF OF CURRENT SHOTS AND LICENSES. ALL MY ANIMALS ARE VACCINATED AND LICENSED. I also train dogs, cats, horses in sign language and verbal commands. Sorry but I don't accept Pit Bulls, snakes, fish, birds or reptiles of any nature. I use to be a Nanny to four children, and their Labrador for five years. The dog was very skiddish around strangers and was warned that she bites. I told the parents that I had to win the dog over before I won the children over. So with treats in my pocket, and the dog barking, growling, showing teeth etc., I sat on the floor and ignored her. I sat there for the longest time until she came to me. I allowed her to smell me, although still growling and showing teeth. Still ignored her. I placed a treat between the dog and myself. Long story short after an hour of doing this process, the dog and I trusted each other. I loved and cared for her both at her home and mine for five years, while the family went on vacation etc. until she died. I've also had other odd jobs of caring for animals from neighbors going on vacation etc. I would go to their homes and care for their pets, leaving a note of the activities from "their pet" of what we did while babysitting. I have a clean criminal and child abuse background check that I can provide a copy to you. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover forever. But I only had gotten my first dog when I was about 38 yrs. old. I always had cats. I would bring the cats in through the front door, my mother would bring them out the back door. Finally she gave into my love of animals. When I had my first dog and lost him after nine years, I went out a month later to "FAITHFUL FRIENDS A NO KILL ANIMAL SHELTER' in Wilmington, Delaware and adopted (what was only suppose to be one dog, I adopted two as I couldn't decide between the two brothers..luckily I didn't adopt the whole litter of five.) About my yard I have a huge yard, but not fenced in. The leashes are brought into the house (30 foot leashes), I leash dogs inside the house, then leave them out front to do their thing. I clean up the yard all the time except in snow and rain. Once the weather is clear, I'm out there cleaning. My experience administering medication I can administer medication via shots, and, give medication via pills to the most scariest animals that hate taking medication like we do!!! I 'm experienced in administering insulin injections and giving all types of medication. . Over the years I've learned from my vet how to administer any and all medicines when necessary or if the need arises. I currently work part time in Search and Rescue with the Police/Fire Department for pets, children and elderly. I'm on call 24/7 in case of an emergency with your pet (s). I deal with lost and found animals, and take to police department to see if strays are micro-chipped. Basically I'm home 24/7. I rise at 5:30 - 6:00 a.m., and go to bed by 11:00 p.m. I don't accept any last minute phone calls to take care of another person's pet. E.G. No one can call me at 8:00 a.m., and tell me they are bringing their pet (s) over for me to take care of at noon time and will be back in a week. I require a mandatory FREE MEET AND GREET which lasts for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Without the FREE MEET AND GREET I won't accept any job. When coming to the MEET AND GREET, CURRENT VACCINATIONS, CURRENT DOG LICENSE, CURRENT VET INFORMATION is a requirement. Even if I'm just doing drop in visits or walking a pet. At the Meet and Greet there will be other questions, however, I need to know about any allergies, did they have Flea/Tick medication, Heart Worm medication etc. I will call your Vet for confirmation of the paperwork you bring to me. Rabie shots are a definite requirement, all vaccinations are a definite requirement, and a dog license is a definite requirement (otherwise you'll have a $300.00 fine without the license) and possibly court costs fees. I don't have a fenced in yard, but I do have a fenced in deck right off my bedroom on the second floor. All animals can play outside on the deck, relax in the sun if they so choose and have beautiful surroundings to watch other animals from the woods behind my home.

We found Ann to be a very conscientious pet sitter, and were very pleased with the loving care our year-old pup received. She makes sure that the dogs under her care are friendly and compatible, and spends a great deal of hands-on time with them. We received cute "messages from our pup" while we were away on vacation, keeping us abreast of all the fun times she was having. You can tell that Ann truly loves animals and is devoted to their well being. Highly recommended.

I have a fenced in deck, and let the animals play out on the deck which is located outside my bedroom on the second floor. They love to sit and watch the birds, rabbits, etc., from the second floor. Enjoy sun bathing and fresh air out there. If I have to go out, they're put in a crate.

Information Ann H. would like to know about your pet

I would love to have another cock a poo or smaller dog because of some physical disabilities. I love all animals, if I had a farm, well Lord only knows the farm would probably turn into a zoo. Before I take in any animal I need to know their personality, if we get along, are they healthy, how much care do they need? With your dog (s), cat (s), I require that the dogs have the following: MUZZLES, HARNESSES (TO MAKE WALKING EASIER) CURRENT VACCINATIONS, CURRENT LICENSES AND PROOF OF BOTH. Also, a name tag with your name, address and phone number on their collars. Provide me with information on whether they are micro-chipped. A list of your vetanarians, their location and telephone numbers. MEDICATIONS WITH AMOUNT AND TIMES GIVEN. A crate or pet carrier with your name on it. Their favorite blanket, a scent from your clothes, their favorite toys. A list of their allergies to food, treats, and authorization for me to give them any of my dog/cat treats. A special name "pet name" that they respond to immediately!! What is the quickest and easiest way to get them back in the house.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walk. I will drive them to our community center about 1 1/2 blocks away. Their is a huge park there and we can walk. Great exercise without them contacting other animals. Your dog's sleeping arrangement At my home probably in a crate, with a comfortable blanket, carpet, whatever. If they decide to sleep in my room, then I will bring your animal in my room and it will once again be in a crate. So I can hear them if they need to go out etc. I always take the animals out around 11:00 p.m.-midnight, so they are okay throughout the night. I give all the animals a treat/snack before bedtime, so they feel comfortable and happy and can sleep better. Time I'll spend with your dog. I spend a lot of time with all the animals until I wear them out from walking, playing, and getting into mischief. After that I give them treats and they lie down and go to sleep until it's time to get up for their walk and lunch/dinner hour. The love that will be showered on them will knock them out sooner than one realizes.
