Languages: DE - EN - ES Hi! I'm Angelika, a 24-year-old animal lover from Austria. For now, I'm moving mostly between Barcelona and Berlin and therefore have limited capacity in both cities. I use this platform only for Barcelona, but as I switched from Berlin, it may state "Barcelona, Germany". I grew up with pets (dogs, cats, bunnies) and started pet sitting in 2018 after finishing school and moving to Vienna. I also used to step in for a friend of mine who's a full-time cat sitter in Vienna when she needed replacement. Leaving my pets behind with my parents was really hard – I've considered adopting pets, but as I will continue to travel regularly I feel like it would not be a good decision at that point. I've provided foster care for some pets and doing pet sitting feels like the perfect balance. In 2021 I additionally started doing house and pet sitting abroad using distinct platforms and have had wonderful experiences including stays lasting up to a couple of months. Due to my erratic schedule I'm currently not available for regular/weekly gigs. *in case I'm showing as unavailable for house sitting on specific dates, you can try shorteni g the stay by one day in the beginning and end – I may actually be available due to another house sit starting/ending on the same day as your prefered start/end date but on my calender my availability will be blocked until the day after regardless I can understand that the thought of handing over the responsibilities for one's pets (or also regarding one's home) can feel discomforting. As a rather sensitive and responsible person myself, I can see how it might lead to anxious thoughts. I am always trying my best to make the experience easy by sending frequent updates with photos/videos. I have experience with shy, traumatized or simply antisocial pets, special needs pets, blind pets as well as giving medicine. I am aware of how important it is to not cross boundaries and instead let the pet decide when or if they are ready to be affectionate. As for house sitting: When I started doing house sitting, pet care became a much more intense experience (in a purely positive way) and I totally fell in love with the concept. It generally is a possibility to build a strong connection with the animal quicker. This of course doesn't apply to all animals – as personalities are diverse and some are more defensive about their homes than others, which is why I think some are better off at boarding facilities rather than having a new person living in their personal space. I got used to changing places a lot due to my travels, and I feel very happy doing so – not only travelling from one city or place to another, but also getting to know the city from various parts. I am organized and actually enjoy typical household activities like cleaning, washing, organizing and making sure everything is in its place, I think it is calming.
