Pet care experience

Hi all, We can't wait to meet your pups and even walk and play with them. We are a couple named Dean and Angel (or DNA!) As a nerdy dog lover, getting requests to meet your wonderful pup is the highlight of my day. I think I'm one of the more experienced people out there. While I think most people on the app love dogs as much as me, what makes me special is that I take animal care very seriously. So seriously, that I have spent the past 7 years training for this on a professional level. Angelica Marchini: Bachelor's Degree- Environmental Science Minor- Biology/ STEM Education Skills Administration of daily Medication including: Insulin, oral medication, injections, monitoring for signs of high and low blood sugar, care for blind/deaf pets, allergies Daily Walks: 2-5 Daily walks per day, up to 2 miles per walk Animal Behavior: Signs of distress, interactions with other dogs, alleviating separation anxiety, enforcing or creating new trained behavior (Sit, stand, heel, paw, wait, come here, etc." Employment History West Chester Veterinary Medical Center and Animal Emergency Center Client Service Representative 2021-Present Manage 30+ daily calls during business hours to answer client questions, dispense medication, manage pet records, create appointments and process transactions Partner with other Veterinary Hospitals to maintain accurate and up to date records on the pets at all hospitals that the client sees Receive, Process and dispense medication for simple scripts including Credelio, Interceptor and prescribed food such as Hill's (I/D, C/D, Z/D, K/D), Royal Canine, etc. Organize and set expectations for the customer experience from creating an appointment that fits their schedule to checking the customer out in a positive and expediate manner Prepare charts and communicate the concerns of the clients to the doctor prior to the visit. Discern between the type of appointment the client needs (Immediate Emergency, Emergency that can wait, specific concern that can wait until an available appointment, general wellness exam, etc.) Act as an intermediary for lab work to collect and begin the preparation of stool samples, urine samples and other items that the Client may need to drop off to their doctor. Philadelphia School District Biology Teacher 2019 -2021 Maintained communication with parents in regards to the needs of their child. Provided frequent updates and accurate records on their child. Implemented well researched practices to improve the outcome for kids in a given curriculum including strict adherence to IEPs, both academic and behavioral. Philadelphia Pet Hotel and Villas Kennel Attendant 2017 - 2018 Implemented Enrichment activities for the pets under the facility's care individualized to the needs of the pet Adhered to strict medication directions from owners while caring for and feeding the pets Maintained cleanliness standards to decontaminate each kennel after usage in order to eliminate the spread of kennel cough Animal Care and Control Team Kennel Attendant 2017 Maintained standards for cleaning and record keeping on each pet Studied animal behavior and how to train and calm animals in stressful situations from experienced Animal Control Officers, Guest Speakers and veterinarians Philadelphia Zoo/New York Aquarium Zookeeper/Educator 2015 - 2017 Studied Animal behavior, enrichment, etc. Fed and maintained the enclosure a wide variety of animals including Reptiles, Chinchillas, Rats, Birds, Ravens, Butterflies, Cockroaches, Amphibians TL;DR I am incredibly experienced with caring for animals. I have a long history in a wide variety of environments that would enable me to care for any pet, with any need. Should anything urgent arise, I work at a Veterinary Hospital and can get your pet in for a visit with no issue. I have worked for Rover in the past, but I lost that account because it was attached to my college e-mail. Dean Bloomingdale: Dean has been with me and training with me since 2017, when I first started using Rover. He maintains full availability, performs many of the walks and is often there for pick up and drop off. Dean is amazing at Pet Photography and playing with your animals. If you want to see some of the old photos he took for the other Rover account, just ask! *THE POSTED RATE IS A BASE RATE. ALL RATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE PRIOR TO BOOKING PER DEMAND AND EXCLUSIVITY* We have full time availability. Angels works at WCVMC, but Dean is available when Angel is not home. Your pet will never be left alone more than an hour (if we need to take a quick walk for groceries, etc.) We only take 1 pet in order to provide the best care possible, unless they are from the same family. What you can expect: Pre-Visit: We will ask you the following questions 1. Tell me about your pet's diet (boarding ONLY) a. Any prescription food? b. Diabetic? c. How much/how often? d. Any rituals or training behaviors associated with meal time? 2. Walking a. How much/how often? b. Is your pet trained to heel at intersections? c. Are there any other trained behaviors I need to maintain? d. How is your pet with other dogs? e. Does your pet have any fears or anything that excites him/her? (loud trucks, other animals, squirrels, etc.) f. Are dog parks allowed? How does your pet tolerate extreme temperatures? Rain? 3. Bed time behavior a. Is your pet crate trained? b. Are there any nighttime rituals I should be aware of? c. When is your first/last walk? 4. How is your pet with cats? I have a cat that doesn't really care. 5. Do you want photos? How many photos per day? 6. Any other special requests/concerns? *COVID PRECAUTIONS* Due to the rising cases, we will meet in person day of for the visit. In the past, I had an interview prior to the visit, but we will now conduct that over the phone or during drop-off. I'd love to get to know you! 1. We only do 1 pet at a time because having multiple client's pets can be chaotic and increases the risk of disease transmission 2. We have an unfenced yard. We do not let the animals out there by themselves, but it is available for play time or other needs. 3. We have a cat. He doesn't usually bother the dogs and vice/versa and hangs out in his tree.

Angel and Dean are truly wonderful! My dog Ollie goes right inside every time without even turning back. I can tell he loves spending time in their home! I’m so appreciative of the flexibility they offer with my hectic schedule and last minute bookings and i know i can trust he is always in great hands. Thank you!!!

SUPERSTAR boarders. Don't hesitate to book Angelica and Dean. From the outset they asked thoughtful questions about how to best care for our Bear. During his stay they were communicative and sent daily updates along with cute pictures. They were extremely flexible and accommodating with pickup and dropoff. We had some flight scheduling issues and uncertainty around when we would be able to return to the city, and they were immediately accommodating and worked with us to reach whatever solution that was best for bear. I will add, they live a stone's throw away from art city vets, and across the street from a dog park, and they are clearly attentive and doting pet parents. I will definitely be booking them for future stays.

Angelica did a great job with our high energy cattle dog mix, Aoife! She was very comfortable with Angelica, and I appreciated all the questions that Angelica asked prior to Aoife's stay. She clearly cares for the dogs that she watches! Thank you

Information Angelica M. would like to know about your pet

Prior to Covid, I used to have a meet and greet. I'm just restarting Rover again after Covid, so I'm still trying to figure out how this all works in 2022. We will have a phone call to answer the questions above, and you will meet me when you drop off your pet. Reducing the number of face to face meetings will improve the safety of everyone. I have a cat named Sir Pawl McCatney that mostly just ignores the dogs. If your dog won't ignore my cat, we should talk about that. There have been times when a dog came that had never seen a cat and it worked out amazingly, so only worry if you've actively seen a behavior. In your initial message to me just say something fun and memorable about your dog and we'll go from there.

A typical day

In terms of day to day operations... that depends on what you answer to those questions above. Please answer the questions above in order to have truly customized care. A basic outline would look like this: Morning: Feeding time, walk time. At this point we would do bonding activities to make sure your pet feels safe and comfortable with us, such as petting, playing, affection. Afternoon: Longest walk of the day is typically around noon. The length of this walk will depend on the size of the animal. A Dachsund might be ~ 1/2 mile- 1 mile.... A husky might be over 1 mile. The goal of this walk is to tire your pet out in order to reduce symptoms of separation anxiety. This walk may also include time at a dog park if your pet is dog friendly. After this walk will be vigorous play. The Dog usually naps after this. The photo taken is often during this walk. Evening: Dinner, affection, chill time. We don't want to overstimulate the pet or make them uncomfortable, especially in the first couple of days, so we will let the animal know we are available to hang out, but let that be the animal's decision. Night: Crate or no crate, it is your decision. We are fine with the animal sleeping on furniture, but if you are not then we will follow your lead. Any questions?
