A Lot of Love to Give

Pet care experience

Most of my experience in dog care has been in personally caring for my dogs at home. My first dog, Meiko, was a pug who lived to be 11 years old, and needed help getting around the house. I was responsible for walking him, feeding him, and administering flea medication. My current dog, Mister, is a senior terrier mix who is extremely shy. I walk him as far as he'll let me, I feed him, schedule his appointments, and take him outside. When he becomes ill, I handle his prescriptions and coordinate with his doctor. But ultimately, my main duty was and has always been to give enormous amounts of love to my dogs and to show them that they are safe and secure with me. I always try to make sure that I stay true to the personality of any dog I meet. Some dogs are cautious (like my dog Mister), and some are very friendly from the get-go. Every dog is different, and I aspire to get to know these differences so that I can give each dog what they need in order to feel comfortable.

After living with Aneshia and seeing her love for ALL animals, I can confidently recommend her services as a dog sitter. In my time with her in Santa Cruz, she volunteered at the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter, where she walked and cared for the dogs. She has a love for dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes, and shares a very special connection with the older dogs whose eyes and interactions show their wisdom and love. You can trust this awesome woman to care for your pooch like it is her own! :)

Able to follow directions related to dog care (my dog has a sensitive diet regarding her food, treats, etc. And is on a schedule with bathroom outings, almost every two hours) My dog loves her, great, affectionate, and strict, will not feed your dog table scraps! (I would know because if it did happen my dog gets sick from it).

I ensure that any dog I care for is let outside in fenced areas. And if I am walking them, they are always on-leash, preferably with a harness. During the summer, I walk dogs in the evenings, since it’s cooler. Due to my disability-reasons, I cannot go running. However, I still love playing fetch and giving lots of cuddles (if that is allowed by the owner and dog/cat). At home, I feed my dog Mister twice a day, and give him medicine. Since he’s a senior dog, he has a lot of accidents around vomiting, so I am pretty adept at cleaning up messes. I also make sure that I am aware of any food any dog/cat may be allergic too. I don’t feed any animals food unless given permission by the owner. My own dog only gets some of my fruit sometimes, and even then I have to research and make sure it’s safe.

Information Aneshia T. would like to know about your pet

I would need to know if the dog has any preexisting medical conditions that may require action on my end, whether it's asthma attacks or so on. I would need to know if the dog prefers to sleep on their bed or with me. I would need to know at what times during the day the dog usually eats. I would also need to know if the dog requires medication at certain times, and if the dog has any anxiety problems (i.e. loud noises, separation anxiety, etc.).

A typical day

I would start by going on walks around the block in order to gauge how the dog reacts to their surroundings and with people. Then I would hope to maybe go to a local park to relax, or to a dog park so the pup can make some friends. At the house, I would play catch (in the backyard if that is what the owners are comfortable with most). I would give lots of affection, and be goofy with the dog.

I am enrolled in an online Master’s program for Biology, which will take up the majority of my evenings. Since my work is online, I can always do my school work wherever there is Wi-Fi. I am in the process of applying for full-time and part-time remote data entry positions. At the moment, I don’t have any prospects, but that may change in the future.
