Your dog will love me... !!!

Pet care experience

Hi there - I'm Andy, age 47, settled in Kips Bay / Gramercy with my husband Jason. You may have seen my profile before a couple of years back - I stopped doing 'Rover' while I had a full time 2 year contract - but now I'm working from home regularly again I'm keen to return to it again as I had such a great time previously. I think my combined experience and reasonable rates could make me a good match for you and your dog! I and my family, and Jason and his, have always had dogs, but we returned to Manhattan dog-less 4 years ago, as our last dog Leo passed away some years ago. Now, settled between 2nd Ave and East 28th (We moved from Midtown to Gramercy) and regularly working from home, I'm keen to combine having some fun exercising someone else's beloved hound with meeting new people and checking out more of the local parks and pavements! Because I have really flexible hours at present, I'm hoping I can pick up plenty of walking assignments in between my own commitments. I'm very proud to be able to say all the dogs I have owned have been well trained, well cared for and great companions, and I've always been happy to help out friends and family looking after their dogs - large or small. Dogs are part of the family, and have always been a major part of my life. I have worked at catteries and kennels, done dog sitting and walking in England, New Zealand, Australia and Holland, and have a particular love for Boxers and Staffordshire Terriers. (Mine both passed away several years before we returned to NYC) I've also worked in the adoption team at the Bide-A-Wee Animal Shelter on 38th and 2nd, contributing to the care of animals there and walking for dogs waiting to be adopted, and being involved in matchmaking cats and dogs with their new families, which was very rewarding and is an amazing New York animal charity - and where our cats are from. The photos I have up are of some of the dogs that have been part of my family over the years - as well as of our cats!!! - and as you can see, it's been an eclectic bunch of canine superstars. I am only looking to walk your dog and cannot currently offer to board your dog at our place while you are away or stay overnight in your home. I'm also available for house visits at your home as required for any pets. Please contact me if you need to discuss this further. I'm also more than happy to do much longer walks with your dog if you feel half an hour is not enough, as I understand well that bigger dogs may want more exercise. Let me know what works best for you - time spent with a happy dog works well for me! - but I am currently only available on weekdays between early morning and 10pm - so can head out with your dog while you're at work, or drop in while you're away if you want company for your dog in your home. I do not take multiple households dogs at the same time - just yours! Thanks for reading.

Knowing Andy for 20 years means I know what an amazing and caring guy he is. I first met Andy when he had Leo the 'Staff" (Andy, you know there were other infuences in that dog!), and knew how well looked after and how well loved she was.I would absolutely reccomend Andy to anyone who is looking for a dependable and kind person to look after, walk, or just pamper their pet. Though I still don't understand the current cat ownership- I trust that the cat must have dog-like tendencies... Jeez Andy, you must know I'm allergic....

Hi, I have known Andy and his cat for several years, He loves animals and would have liked to have a dog whilst he lived here in London but it was not possible at the time. He always found time to chat with dog owners and their dogs. He is a compassionate, friendly and helpful person to all, including animals. I miss him greatly, but you now have the pleasure of knowing this lovely human being.

I've known Andy for some time now, and he is as gentle and trustworthy as they come. We have a"part-time" Puggle (really, he's my daughters dog, but we get him a lot). I would trust Andy with my life, and my dog, and my children for that matter. He's a great guy, with a great sense of humour, and a gentle touch.

I had the pleasure to both work with and live with Andy when he lived in New Zealand. Andy is caring, loyal, responsible and fun to be around, we quickly became good friends and are to this day, despite living in different countries. He has always loved animals, and had his wonderful dog Leo at that time. They were inseparable outside of work and Andy was a great friend and owner to him. I have no hesitation recommending Andy to any family with animals needing caring. Aside from animals, Andy has always had jobs requiring a great deal of responsibility, common sense and attention to detail, hence Andy will always be an asset to any employer.

Information Andy R. would like to know about your pet

I'd also like to know emergency contacts, medical history, how sociable your dog is around other people, dogs and animals, and how often you need me as your dog-walker. That way we can build a long term relationship where you, me and your dog all get the best from our dogwalking together. Ideally i'd like to meet you with your dog in person first, as I think the experience can be stressful for the dog otherwise.

A typical day

In Gramercy where I live there are plenty of great places to walk for every kind of dog, with the East River walk not that far away for those who want more time. I'm quite keen to fill in for the dogs owner by sticking to their own routine - or extending it as suits - and as owners know dogs best, I'd like to be lead by dog and owner in terms of what best works for you both. Please also let me know if you'd like a longer walk than just half an hour!
