Firstly, I adore dogs. I'm an animal lover in general, but the love shared between dogs and owners has always touched my heart. I lost my Lhasa Apso, Isabel, two years ago after she graced my life for 14 years. I will always miss her but cherish the time we spent in each other's lives. She enriched my life. Before Isabel, I rescued a terrier name Isaac and we spent a lovely six years together before he passed. I'm what people refer to as "a dog person", and 99% of them respond well to me. Perhaps they recognize my love for them. With both of my past dogs I made a healthy diet and regular exercise cornerstones of their lives. Of course a bunch of petting, playing and cuddling too. I'm also a good disciplinarian when necessary, using positive reinforcement and strong hand gestures to communicate with the dog. I'm an even tempered person and not one of those people you see screaming and shaming their dogs publicly (or privately for that matter). I'm firm yet positive in my handling of dogs.
