Aside from growing up with a dog, I worked for a little under a year in a dog grooming salon. I worked with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I was responsible for bathing and drying them, making sure they didn't have any ticks or skin discoloration before they got their groom. At the times we had a new client, being I was the one the dog first interacted with, it was also my responsibility to make the dog feel safe in our hands. Dogs understand your energy, your intent, your body language and the way you speak to them, and while I don't have years and years of experience, I did learn how to let the animals I meet feel secure in my presence.

It is a pleasure to write a character testimonial for Andreas. I am writing as his father and therefore know him intimately. Andreas is an unusually mature, hard working and responsible young man. I have always been able to rely on Andreas to do what he says he is going to do, to be truthful and honest. Andreas loves animals and is also loved by them. In our home we have one dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, and three cats, all of whom are very affectionate with him. Andreas does things with great commitment--at the moment he is carrying a 4.0 in college, supporting himself and until the crisis had been working full time--and I am certain that when caring for an animal he will devote himself completely. You can count on him.

While I don't have my own pet, I love animals in general, hence why I'm applying to be a dog walker.
