Andrea's Pet Sitting.

Pet care experience

Ranging from dogs, big and small to cats and rabbits. I have a lifelong experience in animal care, 1 year and so spent helping animals in the shelter, including walking / stimulation and providing care such as reporting behavioral & medical issues, along clean water & kennels when needed. At least almost a year in a professional setting at a doggy daycare, where I am more involved in the welfare of big & small dogs, same concept as the shelter were we provide a safe and fun environment for visiting dogs. I am certified Fear Free ( currently level 1 )& encourage it in the field of practice, BLS & ALS CPR ( online, need in-person training therefore not thoroughly certified ), vet tech student and knowledgeable in the fundamentals of training. I am a huge fan of aussies / Australian shepherds ( mini and full size ), huskies, GSD, labradoodles and mini-golden-doodles especially! I am best friends with three to four of them in my work place! While I don't own a dog, I have always longed to have one of my own, I watch dog training videos in method and identifying certain behaviors, even watching wolves from WCC and expanding knowledge of how canine behavior works, and have executed basic commands or gate control in my workplace. In terms of pets, I have a 3 year old NM Havana, Shadow, that I took in from someone looking to re-home after no longer having time to care for him, he is a very happy, and spoiled, boy who has tons of toys within his play area and many efforts to implement stimulation ( he is treat motivated although not one to care too highly with toys ) and experienced knowledge to his proper welfare in addition to educating others on the proper welfare of rabbits in general for they are one of the most common misunderstood and mistreated animals. He tends to be quite the sweetheart and enjoys being showered with pets. It is not yet known how well he is with other animals ( such as cats or dogs ) but he is skittish and is likely to be intimated by loud sounds produced by other animals. I am currently in school for Vet Tech and have been certified in Fear Free and BLS & ALS in RECOVER Animal CPR. *this is not thorough certification, still require in-person training.

If the dog is aggressive / reactive towards other dogs or people, this is provide a good idea of what sort to stimuli should be avoided ( especially near an area that includes such ) and if desensitization cannot work. Certain activities the dog is known to enjoy in terms of helping to further adjust to the handling of stranger & cope with a plausible case of separation anxiety ( or anything promoted to help soothe the pet ). Medical conditions, pre-existing conditions, medication for those conditions and instructions pertaining to dosage & how often ( one a day, twice a day, three times a day and by the hour, if it's every 24 hr, every 8 hrs, or every 6 hrs. ) History if there is one contributing to a concerned behavioral problem ( was the dog abused in the event it was a rescue, if it was poorly socialized as a puppy or there was any frightful stimuli occurred during is sensitive period. ) If in a multi-pet household, do the two or other existing animals co-exist with each other. Normal routine vet number.

A typical day

Appropriate to the dog's maximum requirement to their breed in terms of exercise ( can be a few miles from home and out for 2 or more hours ) and stimulation. Updates ( will update accordingly per events ): certain areas may be restricted to keep myself and the dogs healthy, so dog-parks may not be readily available to take to. Otherwise that would be my go-to place if the dog is well with other dogs, supervision at all times. Games the dog enjoys playing, I do reach out to get an idea of what sort of toys the dog is fond of in order to help establish my unfamiliar presence is something that is good and not something that should be engaged with frightful stimuli. My aspiration is ensure dogs have an excellent time while in my care and look forward to seeing me, a happy dog is very rewarding, in addition to developing a bond with them!
