Patient & loving pet parent!
Pet care experience
I have been volunteering with Protectors of Animals, an non-profit animal shelter in East Hartford, for the past 5 years. For the past year I have been working with the dog team, feeding & walking dogs every Saturday morning for 2 hours and filling in for other shifts when needed. I have also had the experience of fostering a hospice blue nose pitbull through POA, Earl, who had kidney disease. I had to give him 2 pills a day as well as 2 liquid medicines with meals for the month he was with us. It was a great learning experience, as while I love dogs, I've never had the pleasure of adopting one. I have had cats since I was 12, and I have worked with the cat side of the shelter for 5 years. Starting as an adoption counselor and then moving onto become the cat photographer & a foster mom. I have learned I'd much rather pill a dog than a cat!
Reviews
Andrea is great, she came to my house twice to do a meet and greet with me and my fur babies. They quickly took to her. She walked them with me and learned about all the dogs behaviors before our vacation date. Andrea kept in contact everyday via text and pictures of my babies. She is wonderful, will be rebooking with her soon for our up coming vacations... thank you so much!
Andrea is a wonderful and easy going individual. She is naturally caring and enjoys working with animals. As a dog caregiver I know that she will do her best to cater to each dogs' needs. She has cared for my dogs in the past and I trust her implicitly.

Currently I am not able to host dogs at my residence, our cats took a while to warm up to our foster dog and it wouldn't be fair to put them through that stress again or to have to keep your dog in the basement while we're gone to work. We do have a room, we call it our Cat Room, where we have fostered cats in the past. This is cleaned and disinfected between fosters and could be available to keep your cat at our house while you are away. They would be confined to the room while we're at work but would get time out and lots of pets and play time when we are home!

Availability
I currently work full-time & live in Glastonbury. My hours are flexible so I can do morning walks or after work walks, anytime from 7-8:30am or 5:30pm and on. Saturday mornings I do volunteer from 10-12pm but I'd be happy check-in on/walk animals before that! I'd love to have a few consistent walks scheduled but I do have flexibility with proper notice.
